Hey, you. Yes, you. Did you do something cool lately? I'm pretty sure you did, because you're a member of Lake Valor, and members of Lake Valor are cool people who do cool things. And if you haven't done something cool lately, you probably want to do something cool. This thread will help with that! If you've done something cool lately, talk about it here. Did you do great at a test in school? Let us know here! Did you set a new personal record or running a mile? Share with us how good it feels! Did you do better than expected for an audition? Tell us how it went! Did you try a new recipe and didn't burn the house down (or prevented the house from getting burned all the way down)? We want to know what it was like! Have you not done anything cool lately? Read some of these and try to follow in someone else's footsteps so you can do something cool too! I'll start us off here: I'm breaking personal records for my strength training every week. Lately I can consistently do 5 sets of 5 reps of both bench pressing of 50lbs and bicep curling 40lbs (neither of which is really that much, but it's still a new accomplishment for me), as well as new bests for my squats and crunches. And it feels so good! Six months ago I was laid up in bed-rest barely able to walk without getting exhausted, and today I'm in the best shape of my life!
I'm not sure if this counts as an accomplishment, but I used to be able to run a whole mile in 8 minutes or lower.
Lately? Hmm, not really. Unless you count sort of saving the party in a role playing game I'm part of with a cool but very situational spell my character knows. That was kind of cool and cinematic, but we might not have necessarily died.
Lately, I reached the 2nd place in a badminton competition. Granted, there were only like 40 participants, but it still feels good. I didn't even thought I would make it to the top 3....
I've been sick for a week but I finally got better with the help of antibiotics and some good rest! I consider this an accomplishment since I'm under a lot of stress right now (physically + emotionally), but I'm still managing to pull through. I feel really good!
I re-wrote and re-recorded the promo episode of my amateur podcast that I want to post on LV this weekend, as well as got started on writing Episode 1. Once I finish writing then record and audio-engineer it, I'll have 1.5 completed episodes ready for upload. The first steps are the hardest, but I've taken them!
I know this is only a small accomplishment, but I've been almost completely coca cola and soda free for a little over two months now, and in that time I think I've only had about 4 or 5 diet sodas. That might not sound like an accomplishment but for me it is, because I went from having soda everyday to almost completely cutting it out. I was addicted to the stuff but now I no longer crave it at all! Hooray!
I managed to get my certification for Microsoft Excel and Word, and I also managed to get into the Beta Club, so I just those are the major accomplishments that I've been able to do so far.
I've made several hundred dollars off of art commissions now. I know it's a side hobby and everything, but it still makes me super happy that people think my art is good enough for paid work (and make requests again later!)
I have two accomplishments for today! 1) I finally made a pull-up bar in my garage! For my first day of upper-body exercises aside from push-ups I can do about 3 chin-ups in a row, and about 0.6 pull-ups in a row, but today is only the first day! 2) I bumped this thread which I hope will resume making people feel proud of themselves and inspired by others!
@Negative Zero That's definitely more than I'm capable of right now. XD Well, insofar as 'accomplishments' go, I'm basically halfway through my undergraduate work.
I made it halfway through my semester exams- for whatever reason my school had exams start Thursday and Friday, and end on Monday and Tuesday. The weekend in between is throwing me off (I’d rather have a whole week for exams so I can get them over with). That’s my big recent accomplishment.
I got my name on an actual scientific paper as an UNDERGRADUATE! I'm so happy that I got this rare opportunity. It was mostly by luck as the professor I worked with actually took me seriously and allowed me to work on a proper project with him. After which, he said that the amount of work I did was enough to have my name as an author on the paper he was writing. I'm so excited because this is the first major step into becoming an astronomer and its almost a guarantee to get into any grad school if I have a name on a paper. Not to mention I'm presenting our findings in the up coming American astronomical society meeting, its like a dream come true.
Hm...well I suppose...I worked really hard and managed to get to yr 12? Is that an accomplishment? I averaged a C grade in all my subjects even maths which is super rare and really unlikely I'm a little surprised that I passed.
