When writing or writing a story; there's often pet-peeves that come along with it.For those that don't know what are Pet peeves, a pet peeve is something that a particular person finds especially annoying.

So, what's your pet peeve when writing a story? When reading a story? Why so? When writing a review, do you try to help the author of that book help get rid of your pet peeve when writing?

Mary Sues(i.e overpowered characters) and weird plot jumps/holes. I hate these because Mary Sues make stories really boring, and plot jumps/holes... they screw up the story. Mostly, I hate plot jumps/holes because that is literally my biggest problem with writing

I really hate it when the plot leaves off and goes to another characters perspective. When I am writing I don't like it when I hit a block and I can't think of where the plot should go.

    - Mary Sues
    - Overly romantic focused plots
    - Love at first sight shit

And there's probably a lot more but those three are some of the bigger ones.

When it comes to pet peeves in others' work, I really hate it when canon characters act OOC. It's especially annoying when it's a character who you hate being portrayed in an unrealistically positive light (eg. leaders of the villainous teams who are shown as nice people when the games clearly contradict this) or characters who you love being portrayed in an unrealistically negative light (eg. your favorite character beats his/her significant other in the story just because the author doesn't like that character). I can understand it sometimes in AUs, but other than that... eugh. It's just so annoying.
My absolute biggest pet peeve, though--one that legitimately makes me angry--is when things are romanticized that should never, ever be romanticized. Ever. Like those fics that have a manipulative, controlling, and sometimes even flat-up emotionally abusive boyfriends/girlfriends who we're told are just ~troubled~ and who we are expected to like/root for. I seriously have been forced to stop reading this one fic and take a break to calm myself down before I broke my laptop.
When it comes to pet peeves in my own work, it's that I have a uncannily good memory for remembering the exact words of what I have written, so I can't use the same word twice in one story without feeling uncomfortable. I also hate the fact that, 99% of the time, I end up getting a story 99% done and then just never finishing it.
