Okay I just got to say this game series truly begins well and has a good storyline. Maya's getting framed for murder the prosecution is Phoenix's best friend and then Miles gets framed for murder and Von Karma as a prosecutor get's proven guilty of the murder Miles is accused of and of the murder of Mile's father.
The first game is the best one, especially the special edition case. The second game is the most trash of the first three, but that final case... MAN. The third game has some bad bad bad cases, but it is overall pretty satisfying. I have not played the DS one with Justice, but I hear it is awful. I have not played the Layton crossovers, but I have played the new 3DS one. Justice is a total cringe lord in that game, and Athena is pretty cringy too. I just want Phoenix Wright, man. All I ever want. At least the new prosecutor was such a dramatic edgelord that it ended up being kind of cool.
I like all the games. But I think that 6 might be more to your liking @[member="Seprix"]. Its focus lies more on Phoenix again instead of the junior attorney's.
PHOENIX WRIGHT IS MY JAM I love my lawyer son so much. The first game is PURE PERFECTION, but I haven't even completed the second game because I can't stand how bland the music is. I've heard the third game is okay, might have to check that one out. I probably won't play the 4th game onward though. I just don't like Apollo as much as everyone else. (and I like the music and the looks of the first three a bit better. It's just more aesthetically pleasing to me.) also edgeworth is best character fite me
I loved the Random Encounters musical about it, but I've never actually played the games. Edgeworth is the best.
I don't know about you, but Simon Blackquill is my favorite prosecutor. Only because I love edge. Also Gumshoe is my favorite character from the game. I've only played 1-3 and 5, pretty good games in my opinion. I don't know how good/bad the 6th one is, because I never played it.
I can assure you, as someone who is currently very obsessed with the series, the best game in the series (kinda) is Ace Attorney Investigations 2. It is the worst that Capcom haven't bothered to translate it. Seriously, everything about it is amazing! The characters, the plot, the gameplay, literally everything is just awesome! Oh, and the music, oh my god! I can't explain it well, but the pretty much all of the music either a) yanks at your heart strings, b) makes you want to kill the little son of a bi- and/or c) represents their respective character perfectly. If you haven't played it, go get the fan translated version. I only finished it a few weeks ago, but I still cant stop thinking about how awesome it is! Oh, and I'd say Edgeworth is the best prosecutor because I love character development and he's got the best. My favorite person is a tie between Trucy and Maya. Gotta love those female adolescent companions. Also, there's a live action movie of it thats really cool to. If you look around theres an english dub on youtube somewhere if you want to see it. As long as you don't take it too seriously and enjoy the ridiculousness of it, its be really fun to watch. So yeah. Go play Investigations 2.
Sure, if you want to find an emulator with an English patch. It does exist, but that might not be everybody's cup of tea. I'd like Dai Gyakuten Saiban to make it outside of Japan, but I really don't see that happening. This thread just reminds me that I need to replay Spirit of Justice sometime. Opinions on the series, and which titles are better than others, are entirely subjective, but I would have to solidly say that 3 or 6 would be my favourite, and 5 my least favourite - it's not that 5 is bad, because I do like it, but it doesn't hold together as well as the other titles. It is also a pity that, outside of Japan, AA5 and AA6 are digital-only releases, and I prefer physical, but it can't be helped. The re-release of AA1-3 digitally has also increased their visibility, so that only AA4 and the Edgeworth spinoff are the ones really hard to find. I will note that the series as a whole is very spoiler-heavy, so if you want to talk more about specific plot details or points, enclose them in spoilers for the benefit of those who haven't played them yet. I do have other concrete stances and opinions on the series as a whole, but for now I just wished to mention their general availability. I also believe the series is best played and savoured in order, though you aren't at all required to do so, and none of the titles really requires too much knowledge of prior ones (anything you need to know is mentioned briefly in game, so you can be quickly caught up to speed). But playing the games sequentially is still a good idea.
Actually, I think AA4 has been released digitally. On IOS at least, I remember seeing that somewhere.
Oh I've watched that musical too. Basically though Edgeworth comes off a prick but is a good guy in the end.
I've only ever played the main series (what is this Investigations BS??), but I love all the games. The first one's probably my least favourite, only because I had so much trouble adapting to the game, but I really like the cases in that game, especially the special edition extra case. The second one was OK, but the third one was where everything was just tied together, it was great. I haven't played Apollo Justice, but I really want to, or at least see an LP of it, because I heard Ema was in it and she's my favourite character after Gumshoe. Dual Destinies was my first game, and I really enjoyed it, especially the story revolving Blackquill and Athena, I just wish we knew who Fullbright really was!! I've also played the crossover game with Layton, which was good but the trials in that game kinda sucked, and since this was the first time Phoenix and Maya had been in 3D, they kinda sucked too. I haven't played Spirit of Justice yet, but I'm really excited too, especially since I've heard that so many of my favourites return~! I've also watched the anime, which was pretty good but didn't follow the game directly, and the live-action which was hilarious. Seeing a guy in a wig to be Phoenix for, like, 2 hours was absolute gold!
