I've seen this topic for Pokémon XY/ORAS, so why not have one for video games in general?

Anyway, do you prefer purchasing physical copies of video games or do you like buying digital ones via digital media distribution services/websites (e.g., PlayStation Network, Nintendo's eShop, Steam, etc.)? Why?

I will always prefer a physical copy. It is nice having it around so you know that you won't lose data through corruption or something.

I always prefer purchasing the physical copy; I'm always extremely paranoid that if I buy a digital copy of a game, something might happen to the system it's on and I'll lose that game - as well as the hard-earned money spent to buy it - forever. ;; Especially infuriating if it's a game like Animal Crossing (which I had no choice but to purchase on the 3DS eShop, as a friend had generously bought me some eShop cards to use for it) where lost data can't be replaced easily.

Physical copies win for me. Because of things like data corruption, I'm kinda scared of buying digital copies of games. It's also worth mentioning that if I don't like a game I bought, I will be able to sell it to others and earn money, rather than having it waste space in my game console's limited memory.

i have always gotten physical copies because i really enjoy being able to hold the game (i know it sounds wierd) but its like "ahh yes i finally got the object with my own money and now i can open and close the case 6000 times before actually playing the game"

There's something more special about having a physical copy to me. I feel like it's safer to do so, and I won't forget it as easily.

Physical copies, all the way. Sure, sometimes I might get a better deal if I buy a digital copy, but I will always try to buy a physical copy, if I can. With the arrival of the PS4/XboxOne/WiiU, free space on internal HDDs doesn't last long unless you upgrade, so I've got more reason to stick to buying physical copies than ever before even though some games still have to install massive amounts of data anyway dammit Infamous Second Son and Knack Now I only get digital copies if games are either Digital Only, or I get them through PS+.

On my 3DS, definitely physical copies whenever possible.
But when it comes to PC, I think Steam is a massive success, and I really like it. So digital on PC.

I always want physical copies, I'm not sure why, I just like them better.

I prefer getting a physical copy when it comes to games for the 3DS or XBox, but when it comes to PC, Steam all the way! :D

I don't game on my computer aside from the Slender file I have saved on a flash drive, I don't connect my consoles to the internet (blame my parents), nor do I have a 3DS to buy games on, so physical copies all the way for me! XD

I, for one, enjoy digital copies over physical copies. If it's digital, you never need to worry about losing or damaging the game. If it doesn't work right, just delete the data and redownload it. I think it's much handier to have digital copies over physical ones.

I always love having physical copies. Am somewhat of a collector of the boxes and manuals so not having them makes it all feel so.. empty. That and physical games tend to be more reliable for someone like myself that isn't bothered with swapping games and tends not to lose game carts. Can't ever adjust to digital. 3:

Physical, theres something about owning the actual disc or card that is just so... satisfying. You get to hold it, to feel it, to feel the sticker (in some cases) slowly start to peel off after time. Or with big consoles with discs, put all the cases on a shelf or something.

I don't know why, but I really prefer physical copies of my games, even though you can lost them much more easily... I just feel a bit more safe with a physical version of the game, not sure why.
