I'm... cautiously optimistic. Being something that is almost completely real-world, as opposed to the typical anime aesthetics of the games (and, obviously, the anime), so seeing a Pikachu with actual fur is a bit off-putting. That said, the Mr. Mime part is pretty funny. XD
Okay I admittedly laughed at a couple parts and the cgi Pokémon don't actually look all that bad to me. Charizard looks awesome! Pikachu's voice is weirdly high-pitched though.
Need me to be honest? I don't like this already. I'm open for the community, and I accept more movies, but don't you think this is a bit... early? I mean, this is an opinion and all, but it's too realistic for Pokémon. I get that it might as well be set here in the real world, but... I don't think it's needed. I ranted earlier, so I'll keep this short for the sake of not dying from too much thought. So, Pokémon's an anime, and it's just fine that way, but bringing it into the real world is just offsetting. And it's just not my kind of movie, especially since detective and police things aren't really my type of atmosphere. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure this movie might do okay, but I don't know if it'll skyrocket. Maybe, or maybe not. Who knows? All I know, is that I don't like it all that much. Maybe your opinion's different, or maybe not. I'll let you decide. And I ranted again... Sorry.
I don't really know what to say... It's an interesting concept, but I'm sure I'll prefer the "Anime-Movies", if you know what I mean.
I'm actually super stoked for this. I do like the hyperrealistic Pokémon and I think it's good to see Pokémon in a different art style. I do wish the movie will actually be good though. Detective Pikachu is a relatively simple and predictable game, so I hope they just don't rip the game straight to movie.
I'm actually really looking forward to seeing this. I kind of like how the CGI Pokémon look, more realistic, but they're still recognizable as Pokémon instead of just oddly colored animals. I'm kinda excited to see how this movie goes. (And I think that the Greninja look freaking awesome).
Like it or not, this movie is going to inspire ALL the memes. I actually kinda like it! On a side note, I can't stop imagining Pikachu with a Deadpool mask. Goshdarnit Ryan Reynolds.
I didn't think the tailer trailer was that bad. I might end up seeing this movie. Pikachu looks so cute though. I love how fuzzy his fur is. EDIT: So I've watched this trailer almost 10 times today, and it's safe to say I'm officially hyped. More excited for this than the new Godzilla movie, and that's saying something!
Chances are I'll have to go and see this movie while babysitting my neighbor's daughter. She LOVES Pokémon. Not so sure about it being CGI since it still looks a little unrealistic and not believable. At least Ryan Reynolds keeps the dialogue fresh and I chuckled a little bit at his lines. I have a feeling that he'll end up being a shining point in an otherwise dull movie. Despite my reservations, I'll keep judgment at bay until I actually watch it myself...if I do... But I cannot wait for the memes to inevitably surface
I really wish the whole Ryan Reynolds voicing Pikachu thing was a hoax. I really don't like him as an actor and I feel that he was horribly miscast. Overall I'm really not looking forward to this movie and this trailer is making me even less interested in it. Years ago there was a fan-made trailer called Pokémon Apokélypse that was a parody of dark and edgy movies based off of children's series. This reminds me way to much of that.
I personally am super hyped for this. Mr. Mime actually looks better than it does in the games! The jokes all landed (from the trailer at least) and I love Ryan Reynolds as a Pikachu. Just too funny! I can’t wait!
Okay, so I just want to say that I really loved the 3DS game of Detective Pikachu and I was really looking forward to this movie, but... my mind is filled with all kinds of thoughts right now... Many of the pokémon in that trailer looked absolutely horrifying to me, I don't understand why they made them look so scary and ugly, Jigglypuff, Psyduck and Greninja will give me nightmares, and Greninja's entire body looks off. Charizard looks like a piñata to me. I just don't understand and I'm very confused, if they wanted to give them realistic fur and such couldn't they have gone with a more Pokken-ish look? It just seems that they made them all look scary on purpose and I'm having a hard time accepting that the Pokémon Company and the higher ups at game freak actually okay-ed these looks. It actually really looks a lot like something fan-made, and I wouldn't have believed this was real if I didn't know it was. It also doesn't seem to be very true to the game, but that is to be expected of all hollywood movies I suppose... Also I'm sad that they didn't give Pikachu the same voice actor he had in the game.
It seems okay, I mean the CGI works well for Pikachu and Mr Mime, I’ll admit, but Jigglypuff, Charizard, and Greninja looked creepy, especially the Jigglypuff. I’d be fine with watching the movie.
okay like Pikachu still looks a bit creepy to me, almost like it belongs in Toy Story 4 since it looks more like a stuffed toy than realistic Pokémon, but I'm still interested in watching this. other than the obvious craziness that is mr. mime, that jigglypuff's expression tho aaaaaaa
I have no clue why this is being made and I honestly thought the trailer was a joke when I first saw it. Still, I'm pretty hyped. I have no idea what to expect, but it seems like the movie isn't taking itself too seriously. Which is a good attitude to take when your film is about uncanny valley anime monsters and talking electric mice. The CG looks pretty bad, but then again, the designs of Pokémon would look pretty ridiculous if they were hyper-realistic. I don't actually mind pikachu's fur. He's so soft and huggable and I love him. So yeah, I'm feeling pretty optimistic. All I've seen is the trailer, though. I don't have too many strong feelings about it and since I never go to the cinema, I probably won't see it immediately, but I'm looking forward to it
Besides the fact that furry Pikachu is... odd... I, uh, kind of have hopes for this? Excluding the animation (which makes sense when you think about it; Pikachu is a mouse, and mice have fur, so... And like Charizard has scales, which is cool since it's a dragon and all...) it actually sounds like it might be a good movie overall; kind of funny, kind of adventure-y, kind of interesting. I'll wait till they release another trailer/more info on it, but I have hopes as of right now.
