Pokémon Gold & Silver Beta Sprites

Okay I would've really liked to see some of these... Like the shell from slowbro/slowking and this version of Noctowl. There's also some that I'm glad they deleted xD

It's also very interesting to see how some of the designs were so clear and stayed what they were and others are so random

 

I honestly prefer most of the beta designs over the finalised ones (the only exceptions are the legendary beasts (okay, okay, emocune is kinda cool), Espeon, and some of the baby mons) They just seem more appealing and interesting to me.
My favourites are Wolfman and Warwolf (my avatar probably made that obvious ). I also love Likk (Lickitung evolution), beta Porygon2, beta Murkrow, the fire starter family (better than Cyndaquil tbh), beta hoppip family, beta Noctowl, Meowsy, and the two bell-themed cats.
Oh and that hilarious screaming Ditto evolution. He's seen some shit. Haha

But what even is Chikorita's second evolution??
Also the beta baby Pokémon make me laugh.

1. I love several of the unused Kanto mon sprites, the Arcanine looked so fluffy!
2. Pretty neat to know that the Honoguma fan-art from years ago practically matched its sprite-same for Kurusu. Happa not so much, as it looks just like Chikorita..
3. Qwilfish had a evolution?? Quagsire didn't??
4. Baby Paras stage??
5. The beta Hoppip line looks like a bunch of Slime/Baby stage Digimon..
6. I want the Tigerette line to be real </3
7. Mega Heracross??
8. Leafeon!
9. Raikou was in a punk/metal stage..Rock on!

 

I think the beta design for Noctowl looks awesome, and I love the one for Politoed. Overall I’m happy with the gen 2 Pokémon that we got though.

 

I loved some of the Beta designs like Poliwrath’s crown. I also wished some of the unreleased Pokémon like Gorochu could get a chance as well. I speculated that MissingNo in Red and Blue was the missing number of the Beta or unreleased Pokémon in the game.

 

Gonna say right off the bat that beta Suicune is literally Nina Tucker.

The baby Doduo looks like it lives a life of suffering. Also, where does that third head go when it evolves?

I actuay really love Pinsir's evo design, though it seems it got turned into Heracross. Meanwhilw, Girafarig's backsprite is terrifying.

Beta Lapras... I’m glad they changed it. The newer version looks so much better and much cuter.

Agreed. That’s what I love about Lapras. The Beta didn’t have that so that’s why I think the new version is better

I can't read Japanese, but apparently all the NPCs in Silent Hills (Beta New Bark Town) spoke about hating Pokémon. Presumably a joke from the devs, and possibly not reachable during the demo...?

I was thinking that Silent Hills was a horror movie or something like that. Please correct me if I’m wrong. It just sounds like a horror movie or creepypasta
