There are many different musical themes that play in the Pokémon games- it's so hard to pick just one of them that is your favorite. I have compiled a list of categories in which most Pokémon music falls into, and you can fill it out and state which piece of music is your favorite for each category and why!

Feel free to just list your favorites and why you like them, or you can provide links to the music itself so other people can listen to your favorites, as well! Try to use hyperlinks in text like so, so your post doesn't get clogged with embedded YouTube videos.

• Regarding Remixes

Try to keep to in-game music if you can! If you enjoy a remix of a certain Pokémon theme that fits a certain category, though, feel free to add it in as well after your in-game theme choice.

 

It was hard just choosing one for all of these, but here are my favorites! I do have a bias towards some soundtracks because of how the songs sound, but these are just my favorites overall.

• City/Town Theme

Village Bridge (BW/BW2)- I love how this one changes as you talk to different people in the town. That was one of my favorite things about some towns and areas in BW/BW2, and this town was definitely one of the best! I especially love the flute and main singer additions to the song- plus you can technically customize this theme however you want just by talking to different people. It's really awesome.

• Route Theme

Route 120 (ORAS)- This was one of my favorite routes as a kid, and ORAS made its theme even more amazing! I love how majestic it sounds, it really suits the look and feel of the route itself.

• Cave Theme

Meteor Falls (ORAS)- Alternatively the Cave of Origin theme, but I love this theme to death. It's foreboding and dramatic, yet still gives a sense of adventure, making you want to press forward to see what lies in the cave's depths. Even though it isn't really a cave, Mt. Pyre's theme is a close second.

• Trainer Battle

ORAS Trainer Battle Theme- I love most of the generic trainer battle themes, but again, ORAS has to be my favorite. Most of ORAS' soundtrack is amazing, though. I can't help but love it.

• Rival Battle

Wally (ORAS)- Is this technically a rival battle theme? Ah hell, I'm including it anyway, haha. This theme is downright incredible- it was a complete shock when I heard it in ORAS, since it wasn't in RSE at all, and the instruments used to turn Wally's original trainer theme into a kickass battle theme really sealed the deal. This is by far one of my favorite battle themes in the series.

• Wild Pokémon

ORAS Wild Encounter- As you can tell, I may have a slight bias towards the ORAS soundtrack, haha. I can't help it, all of the themes from it are amazing! The wild encounter theme is no different, I really love battling Pokémon with this theme in the background.

• Legendary Pokémon

Rayquaza (ORAS)- Was this obvious? It's kind of obvious. Of course my favorite Legendary of all time has my favorite battle theme, haha. ORAS did this theme justice and then some- it sounds amazing, just how an amazing battle with a powerful legendary creature should sound! Ho-Oh's theme from HGSS and Xerneas/Yveltal/Zygarde's theme from XY are also close seconds, but Rayquaza takes the cake here. This is one of my favorite remixes of that theme, as well. It's a slow build, but it's awesome and I highly recommend it.

• Bike Theme

BW/BW2 Bike Theme- I always liked how this bike theme sounded for some reason. It's really light and cheery, and suits the feel I get when I'm riding the bike in the games.

• Surf Theme

BW/BW2 Surfing Theme- This theme surprised me- RSE's Surf theme was my favorite before this, but BW's soundtrack is really good for the most part! The surfing theme is just the right mix of adventurous and relaxing, and I really like it a lot.

• Gym Leader

BW2 Gym Leader Theme- God, where do I even start with this theme. When I first heard this theme in Black and White, I instantly got chills and was so pumped for the upcoming battle. No other Gym theme gets me as excited for a battle as this one! The Kanto Gym Leader theme from HGSS comes close, but the BW2 theme is by far my favorite.

• Elite Four

ORAS Elite Four Theme- I've always loved the Elite Four theme from RSE, and ORAS really improved on the theme in some awesome ways. This is an awesome remix of that theme, it's one of my favorites!

• Champion Battle

Iris (BW2)- I have no idea why I love this theme as much as I do. Something about fighting a magical girl-attire clad Dragon master while fighting on a background that looks like you're flying through space really gets to you. I seriously love this theme though, it's been my favorite ever since BW2 came out! This is my favorite remix of this song, it takes the awesomeness of the song and amps it up to 11, haha.

• Evil Team

Neo Team Plasma (BW2)- I love most of the battle themes of the evil teams, but Neo Team Plasma's is my favorite out of the bunch. While regular Team Plasma is my favorite team (along with Aqua/Magma), the battle theme for their newer counterparts was a lot more intimidating.

• Evil Leader

Archie/Maxie (ORAS)- Ah yes, an amazing theme to go with my favorite evil team leaders (N doesn't count). I loved this theme back in RSE, and when I first heard it in a Japanese trailer for ORAS, it blew me out of the water. Definitely one of my favorite battle themes of all time!

• Bonus Theme(s)

Frontier Brain (ORAS)- God, I love this song. It's such a huge improvement from the RSE Frontier Brain theme, and it sounds so damn cool!

Flying to Space (ORAS)- I had to include this one, haha. Any scene where you ride Rayquaza into space to destroy a meteor that's accompanied by awesome music is A+ in my book. I love this theme way too much, definitely one of my favorite cutscene-styled musical pieces in the games.
