Did anyone play any of the three Pokémon Mystery Dungeon games? If so, which one was your favorite, Rescue Team, Explorers, or Gates to Infinity? Which storyline did you all like best out of the three?

    For me, I only played Rescue Team and Explorers. I enjoyed playing the Rescue Team the most. The way they made the Legendary Pokémon have their own story is quite interesting to me. Plus, I like to explore the places there. ^^;

For storyline, I actually liked the Explorers best. It shows more to the story about you, your partner, and it expands even further. :)

I've played all 3, and I've got to say, they got worse over time in my opinion.
Sure Rescue Team has worse graphics and the Gen III battle engine, but it was just so much fun to play, and you could actually evolve when you beat the game, not after beating the game twice like in Explorers.
For me, GTI was the worst one yet. It doesn't have nearly as many Pokémon as the other games, the control scheme has changed and there is no gender notation... I couldn't tell whether the Emolga you meet up with is male or female (spoilers he's a dude) and considering there is a FEMALE Pikachu in the anime trailer and title screen art, there is no option for female Pikachu.

Personally, I really liked the Explorers line. I felt it was a lot more fun because everything was connected together making everything just so much more powerful storywise. I thought it was amazing how from the moment you started the game, the plot already sucked you in. It was so fun to go through. It's honestly one of my favorite spin-offs of the Pokémon franchise.

I am a HUGE fan of the Explorers games. I loved the gameplay and versatility available in recruitment. I especially loved the challenge of recruiting legionaries. Most of all, however, I loved the storyline of the game. While it started out a little bit weak, about 3/4 of the way through the main game the story takes a sudden, sharp turn for the infinitely better. From there, the story continues to become more engaging and unique in leaps and bounds, and this trend of continual increase in story quality increases all the way through the end of the postgame. If you were to ask me, at any time, what my top three video games of all time were, I can assure you that Explorers would be in the list. And trust me, I've played a lot of story-heavy games, and Explorers is better than most of them.

I only have one game: Explorers of Sky. I just restarted it and I didn't finish it the previous time. The game seems pretty fun, although the need for food does get annoying after a while...

I played the beginning of Resue Team, beat Sky and beat GTI (and regret that last one). I like Sky the most because there is just so much to do.

I played Red Rescue Team and Explorers of Time/Sky. I really enjoyed them all, but my favorite was Explorers of Sky. Though it was really cool to be a Cubone in Red Rescue Team! Made fighting Zapdos super easy, haha. The stories were magnificent with a few plot twists tosses at you to throw you off and I loved those!

I have to say, like some people here stated about how Explorers was the best due to the developed storyline and how everything connected from the moment of beginning the game till the end I agree. I also loved the development of the characters of how Grovyle was once thought of as the criminal and then they found out he was actually good while Dusknoir at first seemed good but was discovered to be the agent of primal dialga.

Now while I loved the friend areas in Rescue team red and blue and the sort of plot to it, Explorers was also my favourite for the reason of a better story because it was that epic and also for how many characters you could pick out of as well.

GoI was pretty cool as well I have to admit I liked the story to it alot. The only thing that disappointed me was the fact that they erased the personality test and the number of Pokémon you could choose from.

I've only played Gates to Infinity. :c Tried Red Rescue Team briefly for 30 minutes or so but never finished it since I found it really difficult to play on an emulator. A lot of Mystery Dungeon fans don't seem to like Gates to Infinity and I had some personal issues with it myself (unskippable cutscenes and slow text speed being some bigger problems) but the game itself was really good. I almost cried by the end.. yes, I'm weak, aha. I bet I'd have bawled at the end of the other MD games.

I've loved the Mystery Dungeon games. My favorite has to be Mystery dungeon, explorers of sky, and that's the only game where I have maxed me and my partners levels.

I played Rescue Team and Explorers. I won't ever be getting GTI because from what I've seen of it, it just look so... childish. I don't think it pays homage to its predecessors.

I'd say Rescue Team is my favorite because nostalgia. Explorers had a more developed storyline, in my opinion, but even so, more hours were logged into playing Red/Blue Rescue Team, and more fun was to be had in that game, for me.

Stop what you're doing and finish the bloody game. NOW. You have no idea what you're missing.

The Mystery Dungeon series is my favorite game series to date. They have excellent writing (though the dialogue does get a little odd at times), amazing characters, and some of the most heart-wrenching plots of any story I've encountered. Their gameplay is admittedly lackluster, but their excellent plots more than make up for it. Even Gates to Infinity's story was good, and it came with some much-needed mechanical changes.

Explorers of Sky holds the record of being the only story of any kind to actually make me cry.

I bought them all but still haven't gotten around to playing Gates of Infinity for longer than an hour or two. It was a shame to see the quiz dropped honestly :( My favourite will probably have to be rescue team since I absolutely bashed blue rescue team when I still had it [no idea where it is now;; ]
Explorers was really fun to play, too! Mystery dungeon as a whole is a great set of spinoffs c:

I really like all of them, but Explorers is by far my favorite. The storyline, characters, setting, and gameplay were all so fantastic- I've replayed it way too many times to count. It will definitely hold a special place in my heart, but I do hope that they make more PMD games in the future!

I think the Explorers games are very overrated. The story is the best of the PMD games, the characters, and the world are good, but the gameplay is just awful. The quiz determining what Pokémon you are is a needless distraction, and hunger is the fakest kind of bullshit challenge I've ever seen. People say it makes the game challenging; I say it makes the game annoying and even almost unplayable.

Gates to Infinity made changes to the formula that I will always admire it for. The removal of hunger and the quiz were strokes of genius. Not to mention an excellent cast of characters, a better world, and a great story (although it's not as good as Explorers's story). But as I am someone who values gameplay over anything else about a game, that's why I think Gates to Infinity is the best PMD game ever made.

I absolutely love PMD! It's my top and only Pokémon spinoff game. My favourite would be PMD: Explorers of Sky. It's like Explorers of Time and Darkness, only with more added and improved features. The characters are explored in-depth, the gameplay is fantastic,, and the storyline is to cry for. It's one of the few games in existence that has the potential to make my tears flow non-stop. Now that a new PMD will be released soon, I'm pretty psyched about it! I hope it'll do the series the justice it deserves.
