It was recently announced that Pokémon Snap for the Nintendo 64 will be coming to Wii U Virtual Console in Japan. This game is loved by many and I can imagine that having this game be re-released is big news for some. However, this announcement comes with some disappointment. For one, we don't know if this game will also be released in the west, but chances are it will. The issue is that if Pokémon Snap is being released for Virtual Console after all this demand for a sequel, is this all we're getting? Chances are that this will be the closest we will ever get to Pokémon Snap on the Wii U, a simple port. Do you think that Pokémon Snap's Virtual Console release means we won't be seeing a Snap 2? Or are you exited for the possibility of playing Snap on the Wii U, even if it's just the original? Discuss!

I'm very much hoping that them releasing Snap for Virtual Console is them prepping to release a new Snap by letting younger or new players experience the old version first. I don't care if it's a blind hope dangit I've been holding out for a new Snap for years and nothing will break my blind wishful thinking!

In all honesty, while I certainly hope that this is a little reminder before they give us a glorious new Snap game, I'm afraid that a port of the old to new consoles is the best we're gonna get. They could at least do a remastering of it though, I mean jeeze. .-.

It's sad, because I think this does mean that we won't be getting a new Snap yet. The thing is, we got Snap for the Wii's Virtual Console as well, so I don't think we are going to get a new one again... The thing is, the Wii U is practically the perfect console for a new Pokémon Snap, (just like the perfect console for TWEWY 2) so I'm unsure whether it will ever happen. And I don't think Sunshine is going to do anything anytime in the future, Nintendo aren't going to make a sequel to every smash hit, no matter how much we want them...
Also on a slightly related note, I've just started playing Chrono Trigger, so I will soon know that feels of the oldest sequel hook saltiness of all time.

Tbh, I feel like they're only going to release Pokémon Snap on the virtual console and not release a new Pokémon Snap title on the WiiU. I've never played Pokémon Snap, but I feel like a new game wouldn't have enough "wow factor" to draw in a lot of new players. I personally think it's a neat concept, but Pokémon has brought so much new shit to the table in the past 10 years, a photograph game might not hold the same excitement for new players.

I also think it's kind of too late to bring something new like that to the WiiU-- I feel like the WiiU is gonna reach it's end in the next year or so, and I don't think anyone is going to purchase a WiiU for such a game if it's end is near (although ever other game will probably be cheaper, so idk). If this doesn't make sense Im so sorry im trying to pay attention in class while typing this oops.

IMO a new Pokémon Snap on the 3ds would be cool?? The graphics won't be as nice as they would on a WiiU, but being portable would make it fun. Imagine moving forward IRL causing you to move forward in the game ;O cool yeah??
