Every Pokémon type has types that are super effective to it and types that it is resistant to. That being said, the type chart is far from balanced. Some types are completely broken statistically, while others are a detriment on the Pokémon that have it. If you had the ability to change the type chart, what would you alter?

Personally I would make ice resistant to flying and fairy. On the flip side I’d make fairy weak to ice. This would give ice some much needed defensive prowess, while making fairly a little less broken. I’d also drop rock’s weakness to steel since the type desperately needs some defensive buff and it never made sense logically.

I'd probably make bug resistant to fairy. Not sure if I'd make bug strong against fairy, but the resistance might make bug type a more relevant contender than it usually is, which is completely irrelevant.

I'd say Ice should resist Water. Please just give Ice some more resistances.

I want to start by saying that the type chart is 100% fine as is and I would be content if they never changed it again, for the sake of 6v6 singles at least. A majority of types feel like they have at least some sort of purpose, and most of them are really good in some aspect. It's difficult to name an outright bad typing save Normal, which kinda needs to be lackluster but even still has one very valuable immunity, and Bug, which had an initial purpose of an early-game type that Game Freak seems to be soft-retconning with moves like Quiver Dance and Sticky Web. If I were to change a few things, though....

    - Make Bug resist Fairy + Fairy not resist Bug (this was an idea I had before I saw it in this thread)
    - Make Ice resist one additional type

This is mostly minor stuff. Bug resisting Fairy isn't anything huge because Fairy STAB isn't the best to begin with, but it's just there to distinguish Bug defensively from Grass and Flying. Those two types by and large do similar things to what Bug tries to accomplish, but Bug doesn't have any resists to make it a better option than Flying on most combinations. Someone here was unsure about making Bug strong against Fairy and that's something I'd absolutely not do, since it'd hardly be a buff with all of Bug's other problems offensively. Instead all it'd do is make Fairies weak to U-Turn, which is probably one of the single worst moves to be weak to in this game.

Ice wouldn't be here if not for the fact that Ice-types generally need to be slow. If you only had the comparatively fast Ice-types like Weavile, Froslass, Kyurem, and Mamoswine, then nobody would call this type bad. I wouldn't make it resist Water because that type isn't the absolute strongest offensively to begin with, I like its whole "jack-of-all-trades" bit and don't really want to tamper with that. Ground would be amazing, Flying was mentioned earlier and that's a good idea, Grass maybe, I dunno. Those are probably the only ones I'd go for.

While I do have changes I would like to add.

I am gonna say don't change shit. Like the more you change it the more it inconveniences players who would have to learn a brand new chart every generation or so.

If you do change it either add a new type or add resistances that make sense.

Say guys. I would make electric-type moves super effective against bug-type Pokémon. Why? This is because bug zappers may electrocute pesky bugs, that’s all. So, what do you think?
