Pokémon X and Y Discussion Thread

I agree. The one in Black/White was pretty cool, but I didn't like that the color-coding on the types wasn't as obvious.

 

So there's this new unconfirmed idea of super training in Pokémon, that apparently causes your Pokémon to "mega evolve"

Though the designs look really cool, I don't like this idea. Why "Mega evolve"? Couldn't they just say these Pokémon get another evolution?

 

I'm thinking the reason for this is that maybe it's not a "permanent" evolution. Quite possibly these could just be temporary boosts in power that only happen during battle under certain circumstances after super training your Pokémon...this idea could give some the edge they need to beat the really tough ones that are out of their reach as far as levels go. The way I see it, they may be doing this for alot of Pokémon, and that new form we saw of Mewtwo could just be part of this "Mega Evolve" trend, and with this they may find a way to use Deoxys' other forms during battle.

Well, mega evolution has been confirmed now to just be a forme that takes place during battle. At the end of the battle the Pokémon will revert back to it's previous stage.

 

It seems quite stupid imo. Just a forme, I mean, the only things that should have forms are Legends, and things that change like Wormadam or Deerling etc. All these things don't deserve any kind of "Mega Evolution", even if it is for one battle. I still Love Mega Kangaskhan tho.

 

I'm just glad they've finally stopped "playing it safe" and are trying something new, and frankly, I really like it. It seems like a good idea right now... I just think we need to actually try it out in X and Y before shooting it down, you know?

 

I just want to point out something that everyone probably knew already but

That DNA symbol above Mega Lucario's head looks exactly like the one in the Japanese X and Y logo.

I would had never noticed that, but now like EmeraldGlee said, it looks like the plot may be about DNA and such.
What if, Mega Pokémon were formed by changing their DNA and such, if that even makes sense? Since it's kinda obvious that the plot'll be about DNA now.

 

Guys, somebody managed to generate a shiny Sylveon in the Japanese demo!

I agree, it looks pretty cool. The battle screen, even though I'm late on this, looks cool too.

 

I actually think shiny Sylveon looks pretty cool. I like the blue.

 

Wow, Shiny Sylveon looks great! I never thought blue would be a good color for it but I was wrong. It's cute as a blue shiny.

Also, it looks to me that the battle screen on the touch screen is a mix of D/P and B/W because of the Pokémon sprite on the Fight button.

 

Blue is my favorite color... Just sharing. xD
I always wished that shiny Espeon was blue instead of that annoying green color, and I always wanted Umbreon to keep the red eyes in its shiny. Sylveon really does look great though, I actually really like it.

The battle screen does look great. I saw it for the first time quite a while ago, but that's beside the point... xD

 

I love Sylveon's shiny version! Not many of the eeveelutions have nice looking shiny versions in my opinion, but this is awesome ^.^

 

This game looks cooler and cooler every time they release stuff for it. Though I do hope they don't apply too many new things. Sometimes too much of a new thing can end up doing bad. DX But that aside, I still cannot wait to play it! >w<

Did you guys see the video serebii posted as well? Even though it goes from the old school, Pokémon red/yellow/blue era and travels all through the different versions of games they created. They ended up at X & Y and showed a scene which, to me, didn't look like it really fit with the graphic style of the X & Y games. I wonder if it's a fancy cut-scene or something cooler? xD

It's a really cool video. I like it a lot. They also show the intros for X and Y, for those curious.

 

I saw that video yesterday, and it's a lot of fun to watch. It's so interesting seeing that Pikachu go from the extremely nostalgic N64 all the way through to the ever-awesome Wii U.

 

That video made me tear up :'3
It's so fascinating and wonderful to think about how far Pokémon has come. Watching that video was like a twister of nostalgia and excitement all at the same time ^.^
