Hey everyone, Pokémon was announced as one of fifteen games that made it as a finalist for "The Strong National Museum of Play's" 2015 World Video Game Hall of Fame. The nominees themselves were announced on Tuesday in New York at The Strong National Museum where the Hall of Fame will be located. Some of the other nominees include: Doom, The Sims, Pac Man, Super Mario Bros and World of Warcraft. All of the above games/ game series have left their mark on the gaming industry and on the people who play them. These games have reached groundbreaking status and have proven to be more than just games that we have played; some of us have grown up playing and still playing them so they have are special to us. Appearantly, The Srong National Museum has received thousands of nominations since they have revealed the World Hall of Fame back in February.

Only a handful of games will make it to the hall of fame, the inductees will be announced during a ceremony at The Strong museum on Thursday, June 4 at 10:30 a.m .The winning games will be chosen by videogame experts, scholars and other experts.

I think it's pretty cool that one of our favorite series has made it this far, what do you guys think about this?

This is amazing! Pokémon is the second best selling video game series in history; Pokémon deserves a spot here.

That's so cool, would be amazing if Pokémon won that, is such a big honor to just be one of the finalists. I totally agree with @J.J. Knight it deserves a shop, Pokémon have left such a big mark.

    *hardcore critic glasses on*

Tis only to be expected from such a amazing series of games. Reaching it's glorious way to children's hands across the world.

    *glasses off*

To tell you the truth. I kinda already thought there was a game hall of fame years ago. (Then I learned what Pax REALLY was) And I find it awesome that Pokémon is one of them. Then I can be like "Is COD in the gaming hall of fame? Cause...I really don't know. Wow this went better in my head" I really hope they make it in

(Putt putt should be No.1 game gets 10/10 all around. 'The last of us' for children. Tens. 10s everywhere.)

This is really cool! No doubt Pokémon's a game that's only grown more popular as time passes, so I think it's great that it got a nomination. :D Hopefully it gets a spot in the Hall of Fame as well!

Pokémon in general was probably the biggest phenomenon in the 90's. The games were the cherry on top of the already perfect shake! If it wasn't for the games, I do think Pokémon would've died by the year 2005 because of the declining anime viewership over the years and declining cards & merch sales. Not only were Red & Blue some of the best video games of all-time, they are the reason Pokémon is still alive and well today! It is definitely more than worthy of any & every video game award/achievement it can get.

That's awesome! Pokémon definitely deserves the Hall of Fame. It's such a great franchise and it has made such an impact on the world with the versatility for everyone to play.

There shouldn't be any doubt that Pokémon would've made it as one of the Hall of Fame finalists. In fact, people would be even more shocked and surprised if Pokémon didn't make it, seeing as it's one of the greatest franchises ever known to mankind.

That's amazing, albeit not THAT surprising given it's the biggest RPG franchise of all time.
I do think Mario and Pac-Man are the two 'winners' here, though- Pac-Man is the one who arguably made video games 'boom', and Mario both saved Nintendo with Donkey Kong, and saved gaming in its' entirety with Super Mario Bros.

Considering Pokémon's massive international cultural and financial success, they're definitely in. If they aren't, I think a lot of us will be eating our hats.

The only real threat to Pokémon taking the #1 slot is Mario. Yeah, other things like Doom and the Sims are each very iconic and deserve plenty of recognition for what they've done, but Pokémon and Mario are wrestling for the top spot, no doubt.

Question: Why wasn't it a finalist before?!

Well it sounds like, it didn't get the cut, which I honestly think is BS.

the amount of sells, and the fanbase of the Pokémon franchise, i wouldn't be surprised if it makes it, do hope they could make it tho, it would make sense as Pokémon is pretty much played so much competitive and causally, and the fact most everyone who has a 3ds or a ds or any sort of nintendo device that has some Pokémon related game as a purchase will have it.

From what I can see, Pokémon didn't make it. If I've read right it appears that DOOM, Pac-Man, Pong, Super Mario Bros., Tetris and World of Warcraft entered it.

I can see why the others made it in over good ol' Pokémon, but DOOM honestly surprises me.

Because it's a First Person Shooter.

Also, the inductees all suck. Most of them are just old, but have not aged well. World of Warcraft is fun, but I think Pokémon should have made the cut.

    What? Pokémon didn't make it?
But it has been around for so long, and the fan base is huge...
That's disappointing. I'm sure everyone would've loved to see Pokémon in the Hall of Fame...

Tetris beat Pokémon?. Now that is unusual. And I thought Tetris was unpopular
