Pokemon Dawn: RP REGISTRATION

"Oh! Another new face! Did Looker send you here? Yes, he's already explained your situation but unfortunately, I have no idea how you ended up here in this world, let alone how to send you back. What I do know is that this isn't an isolated occurrence. No that's right, you're not alone my lost friend. For the past few weeks now people from different worlds have been popping up all over the Kalos region. At the moment, the other Pokémon professors and scientists are trying to figure out the source of our problems. The Secret Police are working on tracking down the new bodies but the whole thing's still a bit hush hush with the locals to avoid any panic.


For the time being, I must ask that you try to blend in as well as you can in this world. I can tell you how things work around here and I'll give you this Holo Caster so we can keep in touch if any news occurs. I've already prepared it with the basic essentials to this world but feel free to ask any questions here. I'll try to give you some leads as soon as possible but for now, just enjoy yourself! There's plenty of lands in this world of Pokémon for you to explore, tons of new people to meet. Feel free to do whatever you want, just try not to get into trouble of course. And with that said, you'll need a trusty companion to help you on your journey. Come, follow me and I'll welcome you to the world of Pokémon!"

About The World:
Pokémon Dawn is a Pokémon roleplay (RP) game with trading card game (TCG) elements. Trainers start out in Lumiose City but can travel to the far reaches of the globe. Please try to keep things PG or at least PG13.

Participants either create their own character or select a character from pre-existing media to represent themselves in this new world of Pokémon. From there, the sky's the limit. You can choose to join in on the main story line or create your own side stories. Form groups, meet Pokémon canon characters, have battles, go on quests. Just follow your imagination and have fun!

Every now and then, I'll call you on the Holo Caster announcing a new event to move the main storyline forward. These events will focus on Pokémon battling, a core component of this RP. Whether or not you participate in these events is entirely up to you.

About Trainers & Signups:
Everyone signing up takes on the role of a Pokémon Trainer and they cannot change characters throughout the RP. Characters can be any age, gender or, for some canon characters, species, however they must follow these guidelines:

• Your character must be able to blend into the world of Pokémon as a Trainer in some way, meaning they must be human/human-like (so you can't be like Galactus, a god or an animal).
• As you are completely new to this world, you cannot create a character that is in any way related to a canon Pokémon character (so you can't be like Misty's grandson from the future, or N's long lost half sister, or a Zoroark using Illusion)
• Characters lost their powers when they were dropped into the Pokémon world. At best, they can have some basic defensive skills (but let's not go overboard with this).

You will develop and add to your character personalities as you progress, so don't worry if you don't have everything planned out upon your initial signup. We want to be able to understand your character's personality and background through the RP, instead of having it laid out on paper before us. A reminder that good characters have steady character development and a defined personality instead of simply jumping around all over the place.

About Pokémon:
· Pokémon are your friends and can be interacted with by anyone in your RP.
· You cannot RP as someone else's Pokémon.
· Pokémon can be given thoughts but cannot actually talk.
· You can "meet" Pokémon that no one owns in your RP. However, you cannot catch them.
· In battles, Pokémon are represented as cards (see Battle System).


How To Receive Pokémon:
Professor Sycamore will give you your first Pokémon after you register your Trainer ID. After that, you'll need to prove you're worthy of other Pokémon by means of this rewards/points system. You can also win pkm in events and special occasions.

You may choose to evolve a Pokémon you already own, or choose a different Pokémon from a different evolution line. Pokémon are first come first serve. You cannot claim or "call dibs" on a Pokémon for future use.

0 pts - 1st evolution/basic line
250 pts- 2nd evolutionary line
500 pts- 3rd evolutionary line
750 pts- legendary OR shiny pkm with enhanced stats
1000 pts- 1st evolution/basic line

How To Receive Points:
Points can be gained by:
· Battling
· Participating in Events
· Completing side quests in the RP.
· Voting in the Pokémon Center's card judging.
· Randomly given out in the RP.
· Making cards for new trainers who need help.
· And much more!

 

Pokémon Battle System:
Pokémon battling here in Pokémon Dawn is based on a turn based trading card game system. The main goal is, obviously, to defeat your opponent's Pokémon by getting their Pokémon's HP down to 0.


About the Cards:
The Pokémon Card:

For every Pokémon a trainer owns, a card will be created for them to be used in battles. Every card has an ability + 2 atks, 1 weakness (x2-x4 dmg), up to 2 resistances (-10 dmg) & a list of up to 4 compatible TM types.

Abilities must be activated before the start of a turn and last for a specified amount of time. Abilities do not directly do damage but can inflict status conditions (which do dmg) amongst other things if certain requirements are met.

The first atk is a basic attack, usually a normal type move and has unlimited PP.
The 2nd atk is a strong atk and has 2-5PP.
The TM move is a special move that can be used once per Pokémon per battle. It comes on a separate card and must be equipped to a Pokémon before a battle. You can mix and match TMs & Pokémon.
A Pokémon is only able to hold one item per battle.

Item Cards:
There are 2 types of items: Held Items (TMs now included) and Medicine.
Using the points they earn throughout the RP, Trainers will be able to buy items such as potions and TMs to help their Pokémon out in battle.
A Pokémon is only able to hold one item per battle, however, medicine items can be used until the Trainer runs out of them.


Rules:
· For now, 1v1 trainer matches only (until I figure out a score system for teams).
· In single matches, any combo of Pokémon (1v1, 3v2 etc) is allowed, for a maximum of 6v6.
· All Pokémon, items and quantity of items must be announced in the first post before the battle officially begins.
· If no move is made in 3 days, the trainer whose turn it is will take -20dmg and lose their turn. If neither player makes a move in 6 days, the match is void.


Battle Point Rewards:
Winner: 10pts per Pokémon used.
Loser: 5pts per Pokémon used.

This means a 1v1 fight gives 10 & 5 points. A 6v6 fight gives 60 & 30 points.


How To Start:
The challenger issuing the challenge is normally responsible for making the battle thread.
The person who moves first is decided upon by the players.
Both players should keep track of everyone's Pokémon's HP and status at the end of every post.
If spectators note a discrepancy with the points system , post in the thread.

Card Making Guidelines

(for those that want to make cards)

Cards in this RP will be based on a rough look at a Pokémon's in game base stats. The higher the base stats in comparison to that Pokémon's tier, the more HP, atk power and resistances a Pokémon has. If a Pokémon has high HP compared to others in their tier, they have more HP. If a Pokémon has high attack/sp atk, they deal more damage. If a Pokémon has high def/sp. def, they have less weaknesses and more resistances.

The first atk is a basic/normal type attack and has unlimited PP (note the star).
The 2nd atk is a strong atk and has 2-5PP. Dmg varies from 15-30 depending on tier.
Status conditions can be applied for a -5 atk dmg deduction.

Max 5 dmg for 1st atk.
Max 3PP & 20 dmg for 2nd atk.

2nd Evo Cards:
80HP-90HP
Max 10 dmg for 1st atk.
Max 4PP & 25 dmg for 2nd atk

100HP-110HP
Max 10 dmg for 1st atk.
Max 5PP & 30 dmg for 2nd atk

For now, we can use this pokemon card maker for test battles. I'll create an actual card template we can use later. Points won't be awarded until the Pokémon Center's up and running (if it ever gets running).
