Atelier smiled. "Alright, it shouldn't hurt to check out what's going at home, eh? It'll take probably the day to get to Keelford, and another day to get to Latermore. So I suppose we shouldn't hang around too long here. We've got a long day ahead of us, and it's just travelling!"
Again, Blacky eagerly nodded in agreement. "Yeah, let's go," he walked up to the door. But before going out, he turned to the girls and told them with a wave, "Aight ladies, we're off."
@SAF (That's what it sounds like, but if you have unfinished business in Steamington, you can take care of that first.)
(Nah, I'm good. Blacky did some of those businesses off-screen anyway. That, I agree. Blacky's all good tho.)
@SAF @122 Generation @ChocoChicken (I have no qualms with fast forwarding to our respective destinations, unless you want something interesting to happen on the road.)
(Eh. I'd rather keep that interesting thing for Blacky's brief visit to Kickenham. Fast forwarding to Keelford is preferable unless 122 wants something else. And as for Earth DK ruins gang, gotta leave that up to Choco.)
(Hi, EK gang member here, and I don't worry about it. Xuehua may have come from Kickenham but she would much rather just speed through it, but I can RP if needed.) (EDIT: man remember when I hadn't refined this and Xuehua was still from Kickenham? Times)
(Okay, fast-forwarding to Keelford...) The journey to Keelford from Steamington was just as trouble-free as the first time they went...
Ah, Keelford. Seems like fate had brought the boys back to this port town. And to be fair, it was so dang hot back in Steamington that Blacky had to jump straight underwater. He also got to test his water-breathing spell out after being away from water body for Arceus-knows-how-long.
Thankfully, Summerton wasn't too far - the trip took Aine and Xuehua a little shorter than the boys. Upon their return, the chatter of the market, the local street bard or two, and passing conversations all intermingled - looked like with the Dragon King gone, the tension and fear in the air had slowly dissolved. With no stolen crops or riches, no innocent lives taken... it was still present, but far less than when they'd first arrived.
@ChocoChicken Aine smiled as she arrived back in the town. Her first thought was to jam with any visiting minstrels, but then she remembered why she was here.
Atelier smiled a little, seeing that Blacky had eagerly dived right into the ocean the moment they set foot in Keelford. He did get another water-breathing device from one of the shops at no charge, as a gift of appreciation from the locals. Then, having checked his books and bag were still waterproof and sealed tight, he followed Blacky to the underwater palace.
@122 Generation Yep, the water-breathing spell still worked. And so did the waterproofing spell on the boys' bags. Blacky felt so good that he could feel Steamington's hotness fading in the water body. One trip down the palace ruins later, all the boys found there was a vacant palace. Seems like Aine was right -- no monsters could be seen in the (former) lair now that the big boss had gone. Not even Sharpedo. "Well then, where could the component thingy be...?" that's all Blacky could mutter as he looked around.
As they headed towards the lair, Xuehua suddenly stopped short. "By the way, Aine... how much of the lair did we actually cover last time? I think we handed out basically all the treasure back to Summerton, so if we really did go through the entire place... do you think the gem we're looking for might be with someone else?"
@ChocoChicken "That is possible, but I'm not ruling out the chance our target is still in the ruins of the lair." Aine replied. "It is also possible it is somewhere we didn't know about at the time."
@SAF Atelier was thankful that the waters gave him much-needed reprieve from the heat above, and especially in comparison to the lava lake. There were no guards at all and the palace was empty. Just in case though, Atelier had his sword drawn. "Now where would we even find it...?" Atelier muttered as well. He swam past the familiar entrance and into the ruins. It was considerably easier to navigate through the halls, although he could do with a little more light if he was honest.
