(Uh... @122 Generation? He did say it's basically a roulette between those two and a slime ambush tho. And why does that remind me of Hoenn Battle Frontier's Battle Pike?)
@SAF @WavePearl @ChocoChicken (Ah... The Battle Pike. Old times) So as it turned out, Aine's path had led the safe way forward again. This time, it was apparent that the party was well into the higher ground of the mountain. The storms were calmer, and the view of the land was apparent below. This time, Atelier went ahead to take the right side path... (012012201201201220120120122) And as it turned out, it led to a clearing with some chests!
That was, admittedly, quite a luck. Xuehua's trigger-happy tendencies led the group to a horde of slimes, and now Atelier's crazy-preparedness led them to some treasures. As for Blacky and Aine, who were somewhere in-between, their choices ended up being rather uneventful. All of these were bound to change later on, though. That said, Blacky poked the chests with a sword in case some of them were mimics or anything.
@SAF @122 Generation @ChocoChicken Aine was just as interested in the treasure haul. But it was a wise idea to check for mimics...
(I've added the Potions of Magic just now ) It was a lucky coincidence indeed that somehow, the explosive Xuehua's choice ran into slimes and the careful Atelier's choice was just the opposite. Some of the chests that Blacky poked popped open right away. In one of them was a Potion of Guarding, in another was a Vile Seed, and in another was a set of rubies. "Well, that's useful," Atelier said. Balance: 25,300C Inventory: ?x Books and Novels, 1x Journal, 1x Strategy Book, 1x , 1x Middle Rune of the Moon, 1x Watera Tome (SotS), 1x Firaga Tome, 1x Lunar Tome (CdL), 1x Steel Short Sword, 10x Geo Pebbles, 10x Gravelerocks, 2x Aloe Vera, 1x Kettle and Cup Set Equipped: Ethereal Grimoire, Thundara Gauntlets, Eevee Scarf Party Inventory: 8x Dazzling Opal, 7x Amethyst, 4x Ruby, 5x Potion of Shrinking, 4x Potion of Power, 4x Potion of Magic, 1x Potion of Guarding, 4x Middle Runes of the Moon, 4x Middle Runes of the Stars, 2x Reviver Seeds, 1x Vile Seed
(Actually, I'm thinking of having, like, 8-10 Potions of Magic instead of just 4 because the ratio of our mage to melee members is either 3:1 or 2:2 depending on Atelier's role. Sorry for not saying this before. Or... is 4 enough?) Okay, real treasures. That was nice, indeed. With that out of the way, Blacky wondered if there would be more paths to choose up ahead or...? (Does a Vile Seed work like how it works in PMD : lowering defenses? And how does the Potion of Guarding work here? I can't find anything in our potions directory in the OOC thread. )
The spoils that Atelier had led them to were quite rewarding - Xuehua looked over the contents of the chests Blacky had opened, keeping her staff at the ready for mimics as well. The Vile Seed seemed most interesting - how effective would it be against the Kings, she wondered?
(I figured that with our stock of strength and magic items, I might as well throw in something for defence. Anyway, to address the initial question, we can assume a ratio of 2:2 for mage and melee. You never know. Xuehua might actually want to throw in a punch or two if she wants to go physical . Also, yes, the Vile Seed will have the same effects as it does in PMD - after all, I took the idea from PMD directly) With the treasures safely stored in the party inventory, it was time to move further up the mountain. In his heart, Atelier wished the treasure chests would have contained coffee beans. He still had the kettle set with him and wouldn't have minded brewing another drink here, considering how much they've walked.
Back to the main road (?), Blacky randomly pointed his sword at the routes available. Since Atelier took the right one last time, he probably should take the left one...
(012012201201200120120120112) As it happened this time, Blacky's choice also led to another clearing full of chests! What luck! "We're noticing a trend, eh?" Atelier remarked, seeing that they had gotten treasure on the previous path. Now it was two in a row!
Welp, two treasure rooms in a row. It sure was a nice surprise coming from a Dragon King's lair. "Pretty much, yeah," Blacky chuckled at Atelier's remark. That said, Blacky opened the chests to find these: Remembering those cups of Razz coffee when they raided the Moon Dragon King's lair, he shot the resident tactician a meaningful glance. Like, a "Think you can do something with this?" kind of glance.
The large pile of tea and coffee did seem a little out of place, but considering their full-night raid last night, Xuehua surmised that some other more... unfortunate adventurers had the same idea when they arrived here. Trying not to think about that too much, she picked up one set of the ginseng and placed it in her satchel - she'd figure out the details on where that came from later.
Atelier, noticing Blacky's glance, perked when he saw the coffee beans. "Oh! Maybe I could use those. I'll brew us a set when we reach a safe clearing. I'm sure we could use some of it." Looking at the ginseng, he thought what it would taste like if he added it to coffee. Now the party was approaching what seemed like the last set of paths. They were really high up on the mountain, after all, and could see Piquedilly in the distance. (012012201201200120120120112)
