Atelier knew that he had exhausted the Ethereal Grimoire for now. He could try pushing a few more spells from the tome but he might risk damaging in permanently, so he swapped tomes for something else. The first tome in his satchel, that is, which was Claire de Lune.

As well, the Thunder Dragon King seemed to have had enough and had flown outside, just as he predicted. At this rate, the Dragon King would be more vulnerable. But to make up for this, a thunderstorm was encircling the heroes.

Oh, great, Blacky thought upon seeing a thunderstorm starting to encircle the heroes. That, and looks like Atelier and Xuehua started to get weary that Blacky just had to fling Sitrus berries at them both.

 

Catching the Sitrus with one hand, Xuehua quickly downed it with a thumbs-up of thanks. The King seemed low now - if there was any time for a final push, it was now, and she slammed her staff into the ground, whipping up a Blizzard in the dragon's direction.

The thunderstorms did direct damage to the party, Atelier saw. But it looked like the Dragon King was getting desperate. He went to the party inventory to take one of the rubies. Maybe it might give him an edge.

 

Welp. Not even Xuehua's Blizzard was enough for a final blow. And according to past experiences of said move in action, it probably would take awhile before the Glaceon could use it again. With that in mind, Blacky changed his sword again, then charged straight to the weakened Dragon King with an Earthly Blade ready (and possibly leaving Atelier's protection behind while at it).

 

Atelier was surprised to see that Blacky was charging in on Dragon King, with sword drawn. Was he really going for a frontal assault? Atelier wouldn't be able to defend him!

Yeah. It hurts. But that was nothing compared to all the damage Atelier had taken for both Blacky and himself. With that in mind and the strongest healing song in Aine's arsenal kicking in, Blacky gingerly stood up and delivered an earth-infused Slash at the draconic tyrant. The question is, would that be the final blow?

And with that done, the Thunder Dragon King fell with a great crash on the ground. With it, the thunderstorms subsided.

Atelier lowered his tome. His breath was short. "There... It's over."

 

As with last time, the vines from Blacky's Rune of the Flowers drained what was left from the Dragon King's powers. Deep down the Umbreon was glad that the runes and his last-minute recklessness were worth it. That's right, he's apparently too reckless for a support role.

That said, Blacky wandered around to see if the fifth component of the Sword of the Stars was there...

 

Picking up the topaz glimmering like the other special gems from before, Blacky turned to the alcove where the ladies were staying at. "Yes! Come out now!" he half-shouted to that direction.

 

Atelier went to collect the cup he had left with the ladies. "Are you alright? Do you need to rest somewhere? We're heading back to Piquedilly to report our success to the guild, so you might want to report there. Someone reported you needed help over there," he explained. That said, he put away his tome and sword.

 

"And now that that thing is downed, you won't have to worry about coming up here again (at least I think)," Xuehua added with a gesture towards the fallen King. "Let's get out of here before anything else like those Slimes show up."

 

“As adorable and annoying cute as those Slimes may be…” Atelier muttered. He could envision a number of them hopping around the lower part of the mountain.

The Drifblim was still waiting for the group around the safe zone. Now that there wasn’t any bad weather forecast for the next while, the ride back should be a smooth one.
