"That might make a good strategy, but we'll need to approach the enemy carefully too," Atelier muttered. His mind was thinking of the strategic possibilities that might be useful. If we can wisely lure out the Dragon King, then Xuehua and that Flareon might stand a chance. That is, assuming that they're up for the task. Atelier himself had ice and fire tomes with him too, but he was a tactician and certainly was no magic specialist. His abilities were broad-based and were meant to play a supportive role like the tactician he was. Xuehua and the Flareon probably might fare better. Speaking of the Flareon, he was a bit worried for his health too.
@Laserdragon14 @SAF @ChocoChicken @122 Generation @Kecleon352 Battling the Dragon Kings was only half the battle. First you had to reach their lairs, then brave the many traps and puzzles inside.
Kelvane's ear twitched as he heard that his fire techniques would become of the most effective weapons against the first upcoming Dragon Kings, which left him slightly uneasy, not for his own sake, but the others who he could tell were considering him up to this point. He knew how he looked to all of them, sickly and likely untrustworthy in a fight, and despite the fact that he believed this as well, deep down, he didn't want to be seen as a burden. He tossed the peppermint leaf away, since it wasn't doing him much good, and he reached into his bag, grabbing a small block of writing paper, and started to jot down some materials he may need to buy for himself for the journey ahead.
Blacky nodded in agreement. "Well, wonder if there are any of the Dragon King's shenanigans we can use...?"
@Laserdragon14 @SAF @ChocoChicken @122 Generation @Kecleon352 (Aine can go over her research about the lairs and the minions, if you wish)
@Laserdragon14 @SAF @ChocoChicken @122 Generation @Kecleon352 Aine looked out at the group. "One of the first rules of adventuring is to know thy enemy...so where would you all like to begin in discussing the Earth Dragon King?"
@122 Generation "As his lair is in a forest, the Earth Dragon King has forest creatures as his minions--wild forest Pokémon, kobolds, goblins, and such." Aine explained. "As you venture deeper into the lair, you may find orcs or a troll." @SAF "He tends to catch unwary adventurers off guard by blending in with foliage." Aine explained. "You want to burn away any foilage before he can mount a surprise attack."
"We can guess that the minions - goblins and kobolds and all - might attack with their bare hands or claws," Atelier suggested. "If we have any defensive units, they can take the hits with our attackers to support them. Obviously, ranged units like myself can't be on the front lines. I would be disadvantaged." He took out his book of battle strategies and a blank page from the book. With a feather pen, he drew a mock sketch of the lair. "Our ranged units can lay siege from the trees, but only once the Dragon King's minions take on our initial advance. I'd suggest establishing a perimeter..." He drew a circle around the lair. "...before we enter the inner parts of the lair." "Try this," Atelier suggested. "If we do find any foilage, we can burn it to create a distraction. But that does give away our surprise element."
"Defensive units, huh?" Blacky thought for a moment. Considering that he's a close-range attacker with good defense on his own right, the Umbreon figured that he should be able to deal with the enemies head-on. "Will it do if I act as that defensive unit?" Blacky asked Atelier. "I mean, I can take the hits if they attack us head-on."
"So long as you have the stamina and the capability to deal close-range attacks, you would be the ideal defensive unit. As they say, the best defence is the best offence. But who said that defensive units can't deal heavy damage?" Atelier said. "Just so long as you're comfortable with taking a few hits, you can be that one defensive unit then. Just... be careful." He scribbled an Umbreon face on the map. "Okay, so Blacky leads the front charge..."
"Okay, I will," Blacky reassured the tactician Eevee. He then looked around at their other teammates and mused about them. "Starlight did say that she'd rather focus on healing..." "Lady Aine can be quite versatile with her music..." "Xuehua seems to be quite a mage on her own right...
"My spells generally lean one way or another - either they're weaker but affect many enemies in an area, or they only tackle a single enemy but are a lot more powerful. If we're planning to hold off an army or take out as many of them as possible, the first kind would be best. Blizzards, Icy Winds, that sort of thing."
@Laserdragon14 @SAF @ChocoChicken @122 Generation @Kecleon352 (Aine is a bit of a red mage--she can both help and hurt)
“Yeah, I specialize in healing and curing different ailments,” said Starlight as she held out her white staff. “But I’m still new to this whole fighting thing.”
