Meanwhile, it took Blacky quite some time to even decide what to wield. "Eenie meenie..." He eventually decided to take a spear instead of sword. "Will this do?" he muttered in doubt.
@SAF (Spears require a bit more control than swords, but are worth it for those willing to put in the time.)
On the second thought, Blacky picked up a sword which was about his current one's size but a bit lighter. Sword or spear...? (To be fair though, I'm not sure which one to pick either. Any suggestions?)
(I'd say the sword - it is his original weapon of choice, after all, and he'd probably be better with it in general.) Once she'd made it to the library, Xuehua could barely stifle an excited gasp at the tons of books around her. Hopefully there would be much more she still hadn't seen... wait, no. She shook her head and began looking for anything about magical items or channeling.
Some contemplation later, Blacky ended up putting the spear back. "I think this will do," he said, feeling satisfied with a lighter sword.
@SAF "All right, if you wish to have that one, I will record it in the ledger." the dojo master replied. "If you find you need a better weapon, you may come to any dojo and exchange weapons." @ChocoChicken There was a section devoted to channeling magic, but many were written with young mages in mind. Some more advanced channeling manuals were on a high shelf...
Atelier was already outside the armoury to test out the weight of his new sword. He found a clearing so he could practice.
Of course it had to be a little bit out of her reach. Ugh. Xuehua checked around for any stepladders or any height-boosters that could help with not being psychic.
@ChocoChicken Luckily, there was a ladder at the side of the shelf. It was high enough to reach the top of the shelf--or get to the level you needed
Once she spotted it, Xuehua scrambled up, reached and nabbed the book, and slid down just as quickly as she'd ascended, quickly flipping it open to see if there was any advice. Sure, she'd learned a little bit about magic channeling through her own wand, but most of its magic was inherent, her simply having stumbled over it out of sheer luck.
By the time Blacky finished his business in the armory, Atelier had already gone out, leaving him and the master alone. He turned to the master, inquiring, "Aight, what's next?"
@ChocoChicken (How did Xuehua get her wand?) "Are you sure you want that one?" the master asked. "If that is your choice, I will record it."
Atelier had to get used to swinging the sword around with one arm and thankfully it was very light. He peeked at the armoury again and saw Blacky talking with the armoury master. Plus, where had Xuehua gone?
(She'd carved it herself after stumbling across the powerful Ice Stone, then trained alone with it for a long while to actually use the spells she'd learned. She herself doesn't have magic aside from the ability to conjure frost via sweat like all Glaceons, so any "Pokémon move" or spell equivalent means she needs her staff.)
That being said, Blacky and the Lucario master went back to the dojo, leaving Atelier at... wherever he was.
On their way back to the dojo, the rain was still going strong. Drizzle would be one huge understatement -- it's practically a downpour. Perfect to halt any raiding plans to the Dragon King's lair. "Man, what a downpour..." Blacky mused at this weather. Deep down he was thankful that it's raining today, for it gave the (somewhat) ragtag group of Eeveelutions he's in to prepare further for their eventual raid.
And yet, Blacky didn't even mind getting wet in the first place. He would be totally soaked during the actual raid anyway.
