Atelier wasn't expecting the Water Dragon King to be taken down in one shot right, albeit the opportunity that Blacky and Aine had created was a good one. The crackle of Discharge filled the air. He also realised that he didn't have a weapon that could effectively take on the Dragon King at the moment, so he flung another Gravelerock to do some damage. Not too far away, he could sense Xuehua was feeling fired up again. For a moment, he wanted to check of Blacky and his allies were okay but it seemed they were eager to get into battle. "Is it just me or did the Dragon King get closer to the shield?" he muttered, while throwing a Gravelerock. Atelier's tactician senses were spot on once again - Xuehua immediately pointed her staff at the downed Dragon King, gritting her teeth and firing up the same Blizzard spell she had used against the last tyrant.
@SAF @122 Generation @ChocoChicken (Do you want to battle a bit longer, or is this enough to deliver the final blow?)
(Lessee... Gravelerock, Discharge, Giga Drain, Rune of the Flower, Blizzard, Atelier's random thought... @122 Generation @ChocoChicken what do you guys think? I'm not sure tbh.)
(I'd be okay with one more cycle of combat. See if the Dragon King can put up a fight) Once he had thrown the Gravelerock, Atelier drew out his Ice Tome now that the Dragon King was in range and downed. He cast Powder Snow, hoping that would slow down the Dragon King enough to not get any closer to Keelford.
(It sounds like a bit more might help, really help put some toughness into the fight?) Xuehua took her next turn to recharge, watching as her snowy projectiles flew off towards their target - and hopefully hit.
@SAF @122 Generation @ChocoChicken (Okay--we start one more turn now!) The huge dragon thrashed about in the water from the cold, sending water flying everywhere in a desperate attempt to warm up. Even Aine ended up getting wet from the waves.
The waves hit Atelier like a wall of bricks. He should have expected it, but given how close the dragon was to him, the force was pretty powerful. Thankfully, the Spectral Shield was holding up against the waves that would have blasted homes to pieces. Atelier looked into his tome, looking for another spell, and then cast Aurora Beam.
Xuehua too was flung back from the waves, muttering something under her breath as she struggled back to her feet. That Water Dragon King was putting up more of a fight than the last one. It took quiet some effort just for her to draw the swirl for an Icy Wind and cast it.
Again, Angus got thrusted away by the dragon's struggle big time. But thanks to the healing from Blacky's rune, he somehow survived from it. Deep down the Lanturn cursed himself for not casting Aqua Ring to begin with. As for the other two, they barely avoided the wave simply because Garma was floating. Blacky then jumped to the seemingly desperate serpent and used his rune once more as soon as he got the timing right. And seeing the Heavenly Yellow Shield attached on the Umbreon's back quiver, the non-Eeveelution allies launched their full-powered Thunderbolt. Garma's was launched at Angus (which ended up healing the latter thanks to his Volt Absorb) and Angus' was launched straight to the Dragon King. And yes, the three frontliners had already planned this beforehand.
@SAF @122 Generation @ChocoChicken (Would you like that to be the final blow, or should Aine deliver the final blow?)
(Agreed, let's have that and Blacky's summoning rune to be the finishing blows. Plus, I don't think Aine would be close enough to do it anyway.)
@SAF @122 Generation @ChocoChicken The thunderbolt from Angus combined with the whorl of Cheri Blossoms from the summoning of Shaymin to overwhelm the huge dragon. It finally succumbed to its wounds, making one last giant splash as it closed its eyes one last time. Aine smiled as the sun rose over the water. "We did it...another Dragon King has met its judgement."
Since Blacky was right on the dragon's body when he did the final blow, he fell and plopped into the sea alongside the fallen tyrant. It's roughly like Henry Stickmin in + - The Betrayed ending of Fleeing the Complex but nobody even betrayed him in the first place. Instead, the Umbreon warrior merely lost his balance due to the fall. Plus, it's not like he's going to die from that either -- his water-breathing gift from before immediately kicked in. And now that he's back underwater, Blacky couldn't help but to wonder if there were any loots from this Dragon King's remains... (First, I'm passing the non-Eeveelution friends' parts back to Wave for the aftermath. Second, speaking of loots, these were from the Earth Dragon King arc: Are there any similar loots from this arc?)
@SAF (The party grows to Lv. 6! Found Sapphire Scale! Found Huge Bag of Sapphires! Found Undine's Tear!)
Xuehua let out an in...Eevee? screech of celebration as she watched the Dragon King splash back into the ocean. It was a surprise she didn't wake the entire town. "EAT THAT, YOU-"
