1x1 Pokemon: Following the Pearl Road (SAFxWavePearl)

Oh? What's this? The girls could've sworn they saw Pepe's eyes lighting up. I mean, did he just get to travel with a bard? What a luck. He'd need to control his dancer impulses while in the caravan, though.

"So..." curiosity ensued on the boy's part. "What's the deal with Sagrada anyway? I heard people talking about it..."

 

Wait-- trial? Did Nemona just talk about "taking on a trial"? Now that felt like the island challenge back home. Arceus knew how the kahuna managed to convince Pepe's father to let him go, but hey, it all worked out in the end. Not only did he get to see the world at his own pace, but he also got to meet his Oricorio squad along the way: Oriole in Melemele Meadow, Plumeline in Akala Meadow (i.e. what would be the Royal Avenue today), Choreogel in Ula'ula Meadow, and Odoriko in Poni Meadow.

"A tradition thing, I see..." the blue-haired boy mused. Thinking this would be like the island challenge all over again, he agreed to come along anyway.

 

"Well... I'm good," Pepe cradled the purple pouch dangling on his belt. Small enough to not get in his way, yes, but the makers had enchanted it -- along with his other two pouches -- to fit much more than it should. An extension enchantment, if you will.

Honestly, Pepe was not sure what to expect when his new companions mentioned a wagon. This would be his first long-term ride on one since he used to walk around everywhere. That, and the one before him looked like it was average-sized, but who knows if it was enchanted like his pouches were?

"So..." the blue-haired boy turned to the girls. "Is the wagon a thing for trips like this?"

As soon as Nemona offered the role of a scout to him, the boy paused. He originally intended to gear his question more to "is this stuff a tradition here?" but seems like he didn't word it correctly. Plus, having walked everywhere previously, a wagon ride could be a nice change of pace, so...

"Eh, I don't mind taking a ride. You girls know Paldea more than me anyway," Pepe declined the offer.

 

Having already stuffed his own supplies in his pouch beforehand, Pepe climbed into the wagon as soon as Juliana got settled.

 

Looking out, Pepe could see people crowding around the caravan for some reason. Did the caravan itself draw their attention? Or was there anything else at play that he might be unaware of?

 

If Pepe remembered it right, he was pretty sure he'd seen something like this before. Twice, to be exact -- once in Garrafosa and once in Sevaro. Garrafosa townsfolk did throw coins like here in Cucharico, but they also threw sapphires and pearls in lieu of flowers. And as for Sevaro, the people there threw flowers like here in Cucharico, but he'd also seen mint leaves and olives being thrown there instead of coins. Different towns did this differently, he'd bet.

 

"Brioso..." the dancer boy mused. This would be his first time going there -- maybe. Either that or he'd passed by there previously but hadn't noticed yet. "...where is it? I mean, which direction from here?"
