Gen 4 introduced the gender differences and in my opinion, it is a great addition. As a kid, I only noticed this on Hippowdon tbh, but now I'm a big fan of this. Some differences are really hard to spot, but others almost create a new Pokémon. I prefer male Pokémon, not because I'm male too, but most Pokémon look more badass when they are male. Here are some examples: Houndoom: BIGGER HORNS Sneasel: I really dislike the small ear of the female Version Ralts: Not really an actual gender difference, but I prefer Gallade. Pikachu: The heart tail is too girly imo Alakazam: I love the male version's Moustache Rhydon: BIGGER HORN Gyarados: Blue is my fav Color Luxray: A big lion needs a big mane Pyroar: I just dislike that the female Version has a mane which doesn't appear in the real world. BUT there is one Pokémon which has a nice female Version imo: Unfezant. The male Version is too colorful and I dislike those "tentacles".
In general I like my Pokémon to be male, but that's mostly because I have an easier time coming up with cool nicknames for the boys than for the girls. If the gender differences were more noticeable, I would take them into consideration. I Mean, the majority of the gender differences are slightly longer horns, hair, or stingers, and it's barely noticeable, even when both versions are standing side by side. I do like the look of male Unfezant and Meowstic more than their female counterparts though. As for Pyroar, I think that both the female and male versions look equally as cool, and I love how they look completely different. I wish more Pokémon gender differences were more obvious.
Remember that a male Torchic has a black dot on its butt Some of the cooler female forms include Milotic (Longer, more elegant "hair") and Roserade has a swooshier cape XD
I usually like to go with females for Pidgeys (as an excuse to name them “Girl Jesus”, based on the Pokémon from Twitch Plays Pokémon). As for others, I don’t usually mind unless they have to be a certain gender to evolve.
I like how the gender differences were added, since it makes these animals a bit more realistic, but I don't think it went far enough. Some animals look vastly different and should be represented as much difference as the Unfeazant and Pyroar that @Gazi mentioned. But what about Sawsbuck? Doe do not often have such magnificent antlers. Many bugs vary wildly in size (usually with the female being much bigger, perhaps with better stats). Hens and boy-chickens can also be told apart at first glance. I just don't think they're going far enough with "Bidoof males have a fluffier tail", and that Pyroar and Meowstic set a good example for the future. As for preferences, I really don't care much for the majority of small changes, though I prefer female Pyroar to male. Like my favorite Lopunny I've raised is male. If that doesn't doesn't explain how little I mind, then I don't know what does.
I usually use female Pokémon, unless of course I'm using a male only species. In particular I like my starters to be female and all of my ones have been since Gen 5, even the masculine-looking starters such as Incineroar and Chesnaught. As for gender differences, again, overall I prefer the female designs. For example I vastly prefer the female variants of Pyroar, Meowstic, and Hippowdon over their male counterparts.
I like gender differences because it makes Pokémon a bit more realistic, however gender doesn't matter as much to me. I prefer to bond to my Pokémon and treat them as individuals, much like how I bond to people or pets. The gender is merely something to add to their character, not what makes or breaks it for me. Yes I do prefer some forms over others, but when it comes down to it I'm not that picky to only go with just one form. Yes, a male houndoom's horns are bigger but, that doesn't mean that My main brimstone can't kick butt and take names because she has smaller horns. Sure Mothim can't change his types like wormadam can, but is that going to stop me from using him to wreck the day of my opponent? NOOOOOPE! I try not to be too picky because from doing nuzlockes and getting wrecked back in blue and gold versions, I've learned that the aesthetic isn't nearly as important as the bond and how well I've trained 'em. *steps off of soap box*
I depends on the Pokémon. If I have BIGJAW the Feraligatr or Night Wing the shiny Charizard then I’d rather them be male. But whenever I have Luna the Umbreon, I want her to be female since I think female fits Umbreon’s design better
I like gender differences for the most part. I gravitate towards girly Pokémon but I do like masculine Pokémon too. I just don't understand gender roles given to obvious masculine or feminine Pokémon like Mr. Mime or Machoke.
I don't really have any preference for male or female Pokémon. More often than not, my teams end up with 3 male and 3 female Pokémon.
I usually don't care, except for Sneasel. I agree that it's feathery ear looks weird short. When I was a kid, long before gender differences were a thing, I drew a Pokémon comic with a male and female pikachu in it and I drew the female pikachu with a heart-shaped tail, so I was pretty happy when that ended up becoming canon. I'm glad that Eevee's getting a gender difference in the new games, also with a sort of heart-shaped tail. It's a good parallel to Pikachu and I love the way it looks. Spoiler: super cute
