Special Boxed Editions of the Pokémon Gold and Silver Virtual Console games have been announced for Europe and Japan! Japan received a similar product back when Pokémon Red, Green, Blue and Yellow were released on Virtual Console, so it's nice to have in available in other parts of the world.

Although the contents of the European Boxed Edition have not been revealed, aside from the download code that comes included, the contents of the Japanese Boxed Edition have, and they're very similar to what Japan received with the Gen 1 VC release. The Japanese Boxed Set will come with a poster featuring all the original artwork for the 99 species of Pokémon in Johto (Celebi is absent from this poster) that also contains a type match-up chart to help players with the "new" Dark and Steel typings, as well as the changes that were made from Gen 1 to Gen 2. It also comes with a sticker sheet, with the stickers varying slightly depending on which version you decided to grab, and a magnet that looks like the original cartridge. It is highly likely that the European release will contain these same items, but nothing is yet to be confirmed.

Apart from this, there is also no confirmation on whether the US and Australia will be getting these Special Boxed Editions, however it is likely that the European announcement also covers Australia, as both regions are part of the PAL region of game publication, and as such tend to have the same special editions as those in Europe. A good example of this is in the Pokémon TCG, where a "figure collection" in the US would have the figure removed and replaced with an enlarged version of the promotional card in both Europe and Australia.

Well, that's it for this short update! As always, make sure you stay tuned to Lake Valor, where there'll be more in-depth analysis on any information given about Pokémon, whether it be game news, anime news, merchandise, or anything in between. This is Pixel, signing out until next time!
