Pokemon Hoenn Nuzlocke Challenge

I'm going to be posting in this thread about my Nuzlocke from now on. The previous updates are in this thread.

I've added a new rule I'll be playing under regarding shinys: If I encounter a shiny I can catch it no matter what it is, however from then on I must keep it in my team at all times until it dies. If it dies it gets released like any other Pokémon.

It's been a tough day. I challenged the 5th gym as soon as I resumed playing, and lost Santix to a Linoone. It flinched me three times in a row with Headbutt, at which point I threw a potion to it, but then the Linoone landed a critical hit and killed him. He was avenged but I gave up on the gym for just then and went to go grind. I took Dickhead out of his box and leveled him as well, he became a Wobbuffet. During round two he fell in battle with Norman but helped me out a bit with counter. In the end I defeated Norman and now have my fifth badge.

Seems nice, keep it up! I'd like to see more details, by the way, especially from you, Ben. The Nuzlocke is exciting only if it's detailed, so we can follow it like a Journey.

 

It's been a good and productive day today; distance was covered. Having defeated Norman, I obtained the Surf HM. After the death of Santix the Marshtomp I was without a surfer, so the first thing I did was fish for a Magikarp, which I evolved into my Surfslave in the desert of Route 111. Once able to surf, I made my way back to Mauville, spoke with Wattson, and headed to New Mauville. There I caught a Voltorb and blew threw the place with Holly the Camerupt. After turning off the generator and obtaining Thunderbolt, I made my way back towards Petalburg, surfing in every available spot along the way for hidden items. Upon reaching Petalburg City proper, I surfed in the pond for the loot at the other end and caught a low level Marill in the process, who I immediately switched with my Surfslave, who was good to me only temporarily. Heading to Route 105, I encountered a Tentacool, which I immediately went back and swapped for Marill. Made my way to Dewford from Route 105 and 106, healed up to restore some PP, and set out again. On Route 107 I captured a Wingull. After battling through the rest of Route 107 all the way through 109, exploring all that was to be had there, I continued on back to Mauville and onto Route 118. Early into it I caught Electrike. I breezed through 118 and into 119, where a short-ish ways in I captured a Tropius (if I wasn't doing a no duplicates rule my team would be very redundant and boring indeed). After doing this, part way into Route 119, I stopped. I'll resume tomorrow most likely. It's been a good day, my Pokémon are in good health and therefore spirit, and I've amassed a safety net of a few in my box. This is the most Pokémon I have had on me since starting this Nuzlocke.

I continued on through Route 119. Cleared the weather station with ease, and got Castform. I either somehow missed the prompt to nickname it, or you cannot nickname it in Sapphire version. But either way it's gonna sit in the box until it's the absolute last resort for my Nuzlocke, should that time come. Afterwards I battled May and defeated her with no loss, and made my way to Fortree. I swapped Sydney II for Voltaire the Electrike and prepared it by training on Route 120 to assist me against the upcoming gym battle. It evolved there on Route 120. Also on Route 120 I captured Skeen the Absol. After some short training and obtaining the necessary Devon Scope, I faced the 6th gym. Voltaire blew through every trainer with ease and took out two of the leader's Pokémon. Almost died by Altaria's Earthquake, but I switched out to Holly and finished off the battle with no loses. From then on it was off to Route 121. Somewhere along here (or possibly before Fortree all together, this was yesterday and I don't fully remember the location) I found a Leaf Stone, and Sydney II became Vileplume. On Route 121 I caught Shuppet, and then shortly after in the Safari Zone I found Doduo as my first Pokémon there, and so caught that and left. I continued on to Lilycove then, battled May once more, and did some shopping. I then traced back to the start of Route 122, and surfed out onto the far end of Route 123 to battle the trainers there. Here, on 123, I lost Holly in a careless, and embarassing fashion: against a Roselia. Ember did not take it out in one hit, but left it with 2 or 3 or 5 HP, just barely alive. Suviving, it used Grass Whistle and put Holly to sleep. Next turn, trainer used Full Restore. Still asleep. Magical Leaf which did decent damage, still asleep. Leech Seed on me, still asleep. One more Magical Leaf, still asleep. The next turn I woke up, and again Ember didn't take it out in one shot, but I wasn't worried. I should have been. It used Magical Leaf once more, and that combined with the Leech Seed damage was just enough to do Holly in. A sad and embarassing loss. I continued on through Route 123 and then released Holly at the next PC, and swapped in Slappy the Shuppet. I trained it for a while as I made my way back to Route 122, and this time went on to Mt. Pyre. Here, I lost Shuppet to a trainer's Kadabra. Being ghost type against psychic did not help as I thought it would. However, later on the upper reaches of Mt. Pyre in the grass I caught Cake! the Meditite. I trained up my remaining party as well as Cake! who I swapped in before stopping play. Next time I resume, it's onto the cave out back of Lilycove where Team Aqua is holed up.

I cleared the Team Aqua Hideout with no problems, and continued on to Mossdeep City. Before doing anything else I entered the Shoal Cave and caught a Spheal there named Arman. I swapped it for Hentai the Tentacruel and sought to train it. I explored the water routes surrounding Mossdeep, training and battling other trainers. Arman evolved. I lost Cake! the Medicham against a trainer, which was quite sad, and Arman fell against a different trainer not long afterward. That was a bummer because I would have liked a Walrein; it's one of my favorite Pokémon. I caught a Wailord on Route 129 though, so that made up for one loss. I swapped Hentai back in to replace Arman as a surfer, and replaced Cake! with Skeen the Absol to prepare for the next gym. After a little more exploring I jumped right in and challenged the gym, which was made very easy with the combination of Skeen and Doggee. After obtaining my 7th badge I stopped, and will continue on to search the depths of the sea when I resume.

Today was a rough day for my Nuzlocke, the roughest one yet. Started off okay. I travelled to the Undersea Cave and cleared it with no problems whatsoever, although I will say that place is my least favorite part of the game. But I got through it okay. From then it was onto Sootopolis. I swapped Skeen for Voltaire to assist with the gym battle, and swapped Cunt the Voltorb with Ben II solely to use Flash; it was a decision I would be glad to make soon. I leveled up Voltaire in my travels in the Cave of Origin, and while there caught a Sableye. I made it to the bottom and battled Kyogre...and this is where the hurt started. Voltaire with some Thunderbolts got it down to half HP, but then succumbed to a a Hydro Pump powered by the rain. Sydney II was up next, and scored some more damage with Bullet Seed, but was taken out with an Ice Beam. That was a hard loss, for she was my strongest Pokémon. Next I threw Cunt at it as a glass cannon, but it was so much slower it didn't have a chance to attack. Next up was Doggee, my loyal companion since near the start. Brought the health in the red, but died via Hydro Pump. My last two options were Fecundo, and Bertha, neither of which were ideal. But Fecundo saved the day: it survived an Ice Beam somehow with 15hp left, and finally fell Kyogre with a Brick Break. Lost four companions in one battle..it was tough but their sacrifices were not in vain. I released my dead comrades at the PC, and filled up the gaps in my team with those boxed. I stopped playing then. When I resume, I'll be training the weak members and then taking on the 8th gym.

I am going to join in on this nuzlocke, even though I will start far behind. I will be naming my Pokémon by clicking "Random Topic" and choosing the name of the person who commented on that thread first.

So I decided to play Ruby on an emulator for this nuzlocke as I have never played Ruby before. I named myself Red and chose Torchic. Not much happend early on in the game, although I did lose a couple Pokémon, Poochyena and Wurple. And then basically all I did was fight trainers and catch Pokémon until I had gone to all the routes possible. It was time to fight Roxanne. I grinded my Wingull and Wismur up to Lv. 14 and my Torchic to Lv. 16 so it evolved and learned Double Kick. This made Roxanne very easy, I didn't even take damage. So far so good.

I started a Ruby nuzlocke because Nate did. Pretty original stuff. I chose nicknames by using the "Random Topic" feature, and then I pressed space bar and picked the first username I saw.
I named my character Satix, and I chose Treecko as my starter. I named it Vendetta after -Vendetta-. I fought all the trainers all the way through, and beat Roxanne with my Nuzleaf. I lost several Pokémon, those being: Poochyena, Silcoon, Wingull, and Nuzleaf.

The nuzlocke is still going pretty good. I took on Flannery and won easily with my Pelipper. Then I trained at the desert until I beat the trainers there. I headed to fight my father norman, this would be my hardest battle yet. His first Slaking I managed to beat by using Curse six times with my Torkoal, and then hitting him a couple of times with a Body Slam. After beating that Slaking Torkoal learned Body Slam, which would come in handy. Then he was sending out Vigoroth. I mistakenly switched out Torkoal making him lose his stat boosts. This made beating Vigoroth tough, but I beat him with a combination of Pelipper, Combusken, and Solrock. All of them almost died but managed to hang on with a few HP. The final Slaking was really easy seeing how I had Protect on Torkoal now. I had beaten Norman. Now I am currently preparing for the 6th gym with two new team members, Ashe Jr. the Gyarados and Doima III the Tropius who I swapped for Pelipper and Torkoal. This way if my team dies I will have two really useful Pokémon in the box.

I spent the time I played yesterday training. Lost Kankers the Doduo early on, but that didn't deter me much. Replaced it with My BF the Sableye and pressed on. I trained my whole team so they were up to level 41-42, replaced Bertha with Hentai for the battle, and faced the 8th gym. No losses to the trainers in there. The battle with Wallace went fairly well. Sativa took out Luvdisc no problem, and I switched in Skeen to deal with Sealeo with thunder, since I was worried about ice. Sativa came back in to take out Whiscash with no problem, but then came Milotic. It wracked Skeen with high damage and eventually after many potions it scored a critical hit and took it out. In came Hentai. Set up two Barrier and got set for an endurance battle. Acid dealt okay damage, but of course Milotic knew Recover. Eventually, though, I wore it down and took it out with Hentai the Tentacruel. For his last Pokémon Seaking, Sativa took it down with no trouble at all. I've got all eight badges now, and next on is some training before facing the supreme challenge. My Nuzlocke will be ending soon, with either defeat or victory.

I did it! I beat the elite four! I'm pretty happy seeing how this is the first nuzlocke I ever finished.
