1x1 Pokemon: Jewels of the Aether - On the Run (Tala x 1:22)

Belle snuggled herself comfortable in Michelle's hands as Leon replied, "I just need to get some information. With all that we've been doing so far, I'm sure we must have made an impact by now."

He went to talk to the ranger-on-duty to discuss a few things. First, as Leon expected, the stockade around Lalusi had been weakened. With no supplies to support it, neither the Fire Mages nor the Water Mages had enough resources to keep it going and were desperate to keep their ends of the stockade. Meanwhile, the SBC, which had been relying on marine trade from its headquarters, had been getting a free flow of supplies to support the city. It seemed like things were going smoothly; and at this rate, if even less supplies for the mages or the guild came in, the SBC and Lalusi might be able to break through.

After Leon had thanked the ranger, the ranger also handed Leon a letter, which Leon opened and read. He almost had tears in his eyes.

Dear Leon,

Sorry I couldn't reply to you sooner! Things have happened a lot while I'm here, and yes, I can tell you're worried for me even when I'm not with you! But rest assured. Evergreen has been watching over me. I know you're still worried sick, but come on, I'm in good company. My friend Serena tells me you've met with Prince Clemont and Princess Bonnie. Believe it or not, they're acquainted! Must be fate, right? So far, we've freed two angels to save Kanduin, and now we're in a place called the Forest of Memories and inside a city of elves. That's where I'm writing this letter from! What about you? What progress have you made? I'm really really really worried for you, but I hope our home is better off afterwards.

By the way, how much progress have you made with this girl? What's her name - Michelle? So, is she the one? When will you ask her out? Or maybe you'll share a kiss or something? There are a couple people with me who might teach you a thing or two!

"Oh?" Leon said. He quickly wiped his tears. "It's nothing serious. I just got another letter from my cousin. She seems to be really busy, of course, and she's made progress."

He waved to the ranger to start writing his reply letter. With SBC service, he hoped that the letter would fly into Maria's hands immediately.

And what was that when Maria said if he should ask Michelle out? It's not like his previous outings with her counted, right?

Belle squeaked, "He normally doesn't cry."

 

Leon took the feather the merchant gave him and wrote down his message on the paper.

Dear Maria,

You won't believe this, but it seems I have made great progress in saving our home, and Kalski at the same time. The campaign has been successful, and the Company reckons they might be able to help our home break free from the stockade. It's only a matter of time. Yeah, Michelle and I have raided two fortresses so far, and with each one we take down; home is closer to being free. We have about three more fortresses to go.

And don't worry about me! I'm more worried for you. How are you holding up? I trust Evergreen is still keeping an eye out for you. And no, I have no idea if Michelle is the one.

With that done, Leon let the ranger-on-duty send his letter free of charge, and then Leon looked at Michelle. She looked worried. "You okay?" he said. "Need to send a letter too?"

"Certainly, milady," the ranger-on-duty said. He took the letter and fixed it to one of the Wingull's legs. Soon enough, that letter and Leon's letter were sent flying off in their respective directions.

Afterwards, Leon and Michelle were standing outside the SBC factory and then walked in the direction of the northwest. The road to Yantara was in that way, so it was probably wise to head out now. Not knowing how badly the Flare Guild were looking for them, they advanced cautiously. Fortunately, it was safe as long as they were close to Illumis. But as they went further away, they had to be wary.

The road ahead was full of dirt and mud. Not really the most welcoming of roads, nor did it try to be.

"Wrote to your family, did you?" Leon asked.

 

"It could be worse," Leon said. "If you want, I could carry you around-"

But he was interrupted by a shout. "There they are! Get them!"

Up ahead, Leon saw two orange-cloaked figures approaching them. They had a Houndoom and a Golbat accompanying them, in addition to the axes they were holding.

(Leon and Michelle encounter Flare Guild Merchants x2, Houndoom, and Golbat!)

 

"Right. Belle, let's go," Leon said as he threw his charm in the air and drew out his bow and arrow. "Use Magical Leaf on the merchant," he ordered.

Leon's limp body was in the mud and on his back. His cloak was all muddy and his hat was smudged. He would definitely need them cleaned.
