Meanwhile, Leon was doing his best to help Michelle by holding off the archers below. Unfortunately, he saw that this attention was getting the attention of the patrols in the fortress, and was glad that he and Michelle used the element of surprise well.

Leon was still holding strong against the soldiers, but the way he saw it, the Flare Guild knew he and Michelle were here. "Keep at it, Michelle. We can just about launch the attack."

Elsewhere, there were screams and shouts that the armoury was up in flames. The soldiers panicked.

"Perfect!" Leon said, as the last of the incoming soldiers were down. However, looking back, it seemed there were a lot more soldiers on the move from the camps. "There will be more coming soon, but we can get Cordelia to launch the attack. The Flare Guild won't know what will hit them."

With the front cleared for now, Leon took aim to the sky, and fired a blazing arrow. The fire cut through the night sky for everywhere to see.

Flare Guild soldiers below, who saw the flame, had no idea what was going on.

 

Now that Cordelia's knights were engaging the Flare Guild on the front, the surviving members of the Flare Guild soldiers stationed here retreated to the fortress.

Leon let out a sigh of relief. "Thank goodness for Cordelia's reinforcements. Michelle and I would never have managed to take on all those soldiers at once." All that was left was to call on a strike from the rear flank, but Leon realised Michelle was missing. Where could she have gone? It didn't help that Belle was completely unconscious, so he needed to find a cleric. But no way was that happening unless he left the fortress, and especially when there was a war happening outside.

"And we are grateful for that. We have engaged the enemy as we speak. It won't be long under our reinforcements arrive," one of Cordelia's deputies informed Michelle. "Where's your friend? I thought you were taking care of the back?"

 

"The attack is going as planned," the deputy said. "Wait, so that means you just left him there? Won't he need backup?"

As it happened, Leon was trying to sneak his way through the fortress walls so he could signal the rear flank. He expected Robin and Robyn to be there already, but they were counting on him and Michelle to make that happen. At least it helped that the Flare Guild had no access to weapons.

Leon hid behind a barrel when he noticed more tough-looking soldiers, and they were reinforced with Pokémon

 

Cordelia's deputy looked at the battle in the distance, with the knights engaging the enemy at the front wall. "No way you can just walk in through the front. Plus, we expect a whole lot of guild soldiers inside too." She looked at the wall again. "Oh, I know. We can sneak in some of our knights while we're at it."

She snapped her fingers and a few Gogoat appeared from behind. "We'll get our Gogoat to launch Vine Whip to the top. So we all should be able to climb the wall after."

 

"They do control a lot of Kalski, after all," said Cordelia's deputy, Severa. "It's thanks to you and Leon that we have a chance to reclaim half of Kalski now." At that, Severa ordered the Gogoat to fire away at the wall so that vines were now dangling of the wall. Now, the knights were starting to scale the wall in the hopes of a surprise attack on the Flare Guild from this end.

Meanwhile the battle continued to rage at the front, and Cordelia's reinforcements finally arrived to give her extra support.
