@Tala Is Eternal "Some context before the performance..." Brock explained as Ash and Serena hurried into position. "At this point in the play, Seiru, the hero; and Chibana, the heroine, have arrived back in their homeland with the titular flute, where they confront the traitorous duchess moments before she can proclaim herself ruler of the land." With that, the orchestra struck up an exciting melody. "A flame that reaches the heavens burns through me... The hour of your judgement is here! Ash triumphantly sang, as if the character of the duchess was there, rearing back at his angry song. When we were young, we promised always to be by each other's sides And now we ride, to face this final foe! Serena agreed as she joined Ash on the stage. For the sake of the promise we made, Let us restore peace unto the world! Ash vowed. They then sang together We will not lose anymore, we will not give up We will face this battle with all that we have! Fire of courage, ignite! Ash sang again, to some awed murmurs as his hand gained a red aura. Granted, it was just for show, but it looked like he was about to cast a powerful fire spell on the imagined duchess. Light of hope, pierce through the darkness! Serena echoed, her hand gaining a gold show aura. The wheels of fate have started to turn Raise the sword called determination! they both sang with fury as the stage ninjas discretely brought them a prop sword and a prop bow. As I wield my blade of rainbow light... Serena brandished the sword before her imagined opponent As my rainbow arrow flies... Ash echoed as he slung the bow and a quiver of prop arrows on his back. We head on to a shining tomorrow! both of them triumphantly sang. The orchestra played a somber stinger. "You who dare to rule the land with an iron fist--Arceus has judged your heart, and found it wanting!" Serena nearly screamed at the imagined duchess Ash brandished his own bansi like a sword. "The doom you intended for millions of innocent people, now comes upon you!" With that, they both sang the iconic Swanna Song a capella. Gatrandis favel, secret, edena... Emusto ronzen fine el balaziis... Gatoradis favel siicletu edena... Emusto koron zen fine, si...
Kihala almost fell of her chair. This was even more amazing than she thought about it at first. Everything looked so real, it was hard to remember that this was all fake
@Tala Is Eternal Ash and Serena took a bow for the cheering crowd, then retreated offstage. Moving on...another common role you'll find in a chomei Gekijou performance is the shidou--which means 'leadership' or 'guidance'." Brock went on. "Typically these characters are guides and teachers to the shinzo, but are not afraid to intervene if the heroes really need help." He went on "Like the shinzo, the shidou has to have a strong and powerful voice, to convey their authority--either as a master of their chosen craft, a deity, or sometimes both. They typically tend to wear blue or lavender, but other colors are not unheard of." (we'll introduce Misty and let her perform, then move on to the start of your training)
(Alrighti) Kihala sat with a small rest. That was way to intense. So good" she thought. Wondering what would come next
@Tala Is Eternal Oohs and ahs filled the theater as Misty--wearing a majestic blue, white, and silver robe-- arrived carrying a long necked fiddle-like instrument. "A shidou role may play any number of instruments, but the one they're best known for is the tikin, the three stringed Kantonian and Johtonian fiddle." "While it's known to play weepy stuff or contemplative melodies, it has its share of happy and upbeat stuff too." Misty agreed. "But unlike the modern violin, you balance it in your lap and bow at the point the three strings converge." Something then occurred to Brock. "Believe it or not, the modern violin does show up as a shidou role's instrument in modern Gekijou repertoire--often alongside, or in place of a tikin." "I'll show that off shortly." Misty assured the audience. "Not surprisingly, many Gekijou conventions also show up in TV shows based on Gekijou plays--the most famous of which being the drama 'The Legend of Taki'--you could argue that imperial spy Chiyome ticks many of the boxes for a shidou role." "That she does, so it's not surprising the tikin is her theme instrument." Brock agreed as Misty discretely told him what she wished to play. "So here's one of Chiyome's many themes in the drama--'Kuro Runs Along Great Raikou Mountain'." Misty went on as a screen came down on the stage. Once sure her montage of Chiyome fighting and doing other amazing things was ready, Misty led Brock into the heroic upbeat melody... (what Misty plays)
@Tala Is Eternal (moving on to the start of your training) After the orientation show was over, the new members were shown to their living quarters, which they would call home during their rigorous training. But these were no cramped dorm rooms--they had all the comforts of home, and then some.
Kihala gazrd around. Even hitmontop had gone out of its ball and looked around. "This is amazing" she was stunned at it. While.placing her bag in the hall way.
@Tala Is Eternal These quarters were all finely furnished--all you had to bring were keepsakes from home. Once the trainees were settled, they would begin their training by determining what type of role suited them best. The Tamashiki aimed to be inclusive, and welcomed performers of all abilities.
After being settled in she went out. Hitmontop weny spinning behinr her. She gazed around wondering where to go. Kihala wasnt sure what would suit her best
@Tala Is Eternal The new trainees got together in a large activity room. The narrator of the Amethyst Troupe, an auburn haired lady, watched as the trainees arrived. Her first order of business was determining what sorts of roles these newcomers could play--especially after disabilities were taken into account. The Tamashiki was famous for being inclusive to all people, including people with disabilities, and she intended to keep it that way.
Kihala felt like she was the only one. She slowly rose her hand. "So I do not have to worry?" She asked
@Tala Is Eternal "Of course." the woman smiled. "We've accommodated many different disabilities before--all you have to do is tell us what you can and can't do. We'll accommodate you as best as we can."
Kihala was suprised to hear this. "Well. I cant do a lot with my knee. It uhhh got shattered during a dance" she whisperes feeling a little bit of shame
@Tala Is Eternal "Can you still do anything with that knee?" one of the medical team asked. "We want to avoid discomfort and pain."
"I... I try to land not on that leg. So I burden my other knee more with it. Recently I start feeling that also." One girl whispered behind. At first she thought it was a bad reason. But when she listened more closely it seemed more in a sad way. "So thats why she walks weird. Poor thing" the girl whispered. Kihala didnt want to that anyone thought that she was sad or unable to do anything..or even worse pathetic
@Tala Is Eternal "Luckily, not every actor has to dance, or perform high flying leaps." the chief of the medical team went on. "Are you still able to dance at all?" (what kinds of accommodations does Kihala need?)
"Kihala gave a small smile. Im fine as long as I do not need to do high jumps. Or lots of spinning" (She can do everything els3. But things where you need to land on your legs and knee. Sje cant do. She can walk without a cane. But it takes sometime to get somewhere. And once a month just a checkup if everything is still okay.
@Tala Is Eternal The chief doctor smiled. "The good news is, most of the female roles don't need to do too much of that. The yuujo does the brunt of the high jumps and spinning. But if you don't feel comfortable with a dance at any point, talk with the director."
Kihala slightly paniced, ''No.no I am fine with dancing.'' as she showed a backflip but instead landing on both legs,s he only land it on one. ''You see, I am okay.'' wincing slightly
