    Now, Kenji didn't even know what's in his opponent's deck. But that didn't really matter for him and his basic deck.

    (Quick question: by "defeating three club members", does it mean three for both Kenji and Vicky (with their duel counts accumulated) or three for each of them (with each MCs having their own duel counts)?)

    (either character can duel--their wins and losses are counted together (so if Kenji won two and Vicky won one, for example, that would count)

    And now that Kenji's first official (or was it semi-official?) game was about to begin, he let the club member take him to a game table. And once they were settled, he shuffled his deck and drew 7 cards containing 3 Basic Pokémon cards, a Stage 1 Pokémon card, 2 Energy cards, and a Trainer card. Good, he thought.
