1x1 Pokemon: Journey of the Brilliant Stars (IC thread--WavexSAF)

For this turn, Kenji drew another card... which turned out to be another Earth (Ground) Energy card. He then attached it to that one benched mon with the same energy card and passed the turn.

(Spoiler: it will take a good while on my side to get the right amount of Fire Energy on Charizard.)

 

(Aw, Mark. Kenji's luck is kinda meh here. Sorry. )

Another card was drawn and it turned out to be an item card. Meh, Kenji thought. Despite the temptation to use that card right away, he decided against it.

 

Just when Kenji (and maybe Mark) thought setting the Flame Herald Charizard up would take forever, he finally drew a Fire Energy card which was soon attached to said Charizard. That's the third energy card attached and Arceus knew when the fourth one would come...

 

(Actually, nah. It'll be another Fire Energy after this and Flame Herald Charizard will be able to attack. Is Mark skipping a turn again? Or will he use whatever card he'll draw next turn? An IC answer is preferable here.)

 

Much to (at least) Kenji's delight, another Fire Energy was drawn and attached to the Charizard. "Finally," excitement filled the air at this point. "Flame Herald Charizard uses Fire Spin!" he proudly announced and moved two of the four Fire Energy cards to the discarded pile.

 

Welp. Conceding already? Kenji awkwardly stared back and forth between Mark and the Charizard card. But he soon snapped himself back to reality and smiled at Mark. "Actually, thank you for guiding me through the game," he diplomatically said. "I didn't even know Flame Herald Charizard is that legendary..."

And to be fair though, how would you expect a TCG newbie to spot a legendary card right away?

 

Victoria lightly clapped, unsure how to register this duel. "Great run...?" Pawnsly lightly tilted his head but followed along with a small clap of his blades.

 

"And to think I got that in my first deck..." the redhead mused as he gathered his cards and put them away. To be fair though, he kinda missed out the Six Spirits TV's demo and showcase matches in favor of a round of actual game like this.

And then Kenji remembered the prize cards. Since Mark had forfeited the match, he wondered what to do with them.

 

"Huh... makes sense, I suppose." Vicky pondered a bit on it. "Well.. congrats on the tie..?" She considered on if she should bother about a duel herself.

"Welp, thanks," Kenji rubbed the back of his head at Vicky's awkward congrats (?). This match being a tie due to Mark forfeiting it did make sense. Plus, it was basically Kenji's first practice match. Why would he bother with winning or losing it anyway?

"So... what to do next?"

 

That was... a good idea, actually. Especially considering that it's getting late soon and Kenji hadn't thought of his accommodation yet. That said, he did a quick purchase on a deck holster and made his way to Mint's hotel together with Ginchiyo.
