"Doesn't matter how innocent he is. He might be setting off something seriously dangerous, and we have to stop him before that. You can talk to him, sure, but we need to find him to even do that." Peri was a little more curt with his response than before - there would be ample time to explain morality to Mel later, preferably before the Black Rose caused any... losses.

 

Mel looked down she felt tears coming up. "Big brother not nice" she yelled to him as she sat down on the ground. PAachi was trying to comfort her

 

While Peri did feel a bit regretful at upsetting Mel to such a degree, he would just have to swallow it for now. The plan was more important. "Then it's settled. Should we act now, or just soon?"

 

Mel stopped listening. She was done with how they did to people they never met and accusing someone for no reason. She had her hands in her ears. Pachi just kept petting her on her arm

 

Something in Evergreen's heart made her feel uncomfortable. For a moment, Evergreen saw a reflection of her personality with the way Mel was behaving.

Maria thought about what Peri said earlier. "Right... The Black Rose aside, it might just be easier for us if we could find clues to finish the song to summon the Twin Wolf Kings. Then hopefully, we won't have to deal with the Black Rose at all." She looked at Mel. "Maybe we could start with that before locating the Black Rose, for Mel's sake."

 

Evergreen went to Mel. Alright, you see? We won't have to deal with him yet. Let's focus on the plan first. She hoped her telepathy could get through to Mel's mind, since her ears were covered.

"Would we have to travel to places to get what you need?" Maria asked Brock.

 

"All right, then we'll be in a good position to carry out the plan soon. In the meantime, what should the rest of us do tonight - is continuing our research top priority?" Peri asked.

 

We could look for more information on where the Black Rose might summon Eternatus. Given he hasn't appeared throughout the tournament, it might be safe to say he's not in the area for now, Evergreen said.

"Besides, don't you think it's a little late? We should get some rest." Maria said. She still wanted to know who summoned her and Evergreen to this world, and then there was the other issue of saving this world...

 

"Who's to say he didn't simply disguise and hide himself among the crowd, though? But Maria's right, it's pretty late, and you still have more competitions tomorrow onwards." Peri agreed. "Your opponents will all be more tough than today's, after all."

 

Mel slightly nodded and yawned. ''I want to get some sleep,'' she gazed up to Brock. ''Daddy, can we sleep in your room tonight, We do not wanna be alone.'' As she tucked on his clothes.

 

Maria didn't need reminding that the tournament was a ways away from finishing. Perhaps there would be time to detect the Black Rose by then, when Brock completed his song. Now that there was time, she took out the Book of Knowledge to refresh her memories of the adventure so far. Evergreen, curious, also took a seat beside Maria to check on their progress.

"We visited Articuno's shrine... Then we intended to visit Zapdos... until we saved a town from a group of bandits and learned about Eternatus..." Maria read out and reviewed. "And somehow, we got into this mess to summon the Twin Wolf Kings..."

 

"Indeed..." Maria said, and then she yawned. "I think you'll need to see to Mel and her bedtime story first."
