All Kaede could do was to nod and smile back at Kiiroibara because she was still chewing her food. As much as Kaede wanted to say "You're welcome", she had to hold it back, lest another choking fiasco would happen again.

That said, Kaede and Hideki eventually finished their meals and went to sleep. Not without Hideki putting out the bonfire after everyone else went into their own tents, of course.

(Yep, let's move on.)

 

(Are there any eventful things in the midnight aside from Mio's prayers?)

 

Kotone had spent the night all curled up in her tent with Belle also making herself comfortable. Makoto was making the most of sleep as usual. And by the time the sun rose, Belle was the first to wake up between the three of them. So the Bellossom left the tent first to make the most of the sunshine.

 

[Good morning.] Belle smiled back as she stretched her little arms up, as if to stretch her back. The sunshine was giving her as much energy as she wanted or needed. Now all that was left was to get some water.

 

[Thank you!] Belle said. She walked over to Mio get her daily drink.

Amazingly, Makoto had woken up earlier than Kotone and had set about packing up his camping gear. Kotone was still sleeping soundly.

 

Kiiroibara woke herself up and slowly emerged from her sleeping spot with a stretch and quickly started to put away her camping equipment. She couldn't wait to see what they would do today

 

So Hideki had woken up about the same time as Belle. He opted to do some stretching away from the campsite while Mio was getting Belle some water. And by the time Kiiroibara woke up, he was already busy sparring with Keito. It sure was a good way to simultaneously train everyone involved.

As for Kaede, she woke up a bit after Makoto did. Looking around, she saw Hideki's sparring session and decided not to disturb him. But seems like Kotone was nowhere to be seen. I thought Yuki is the sleepyhead one? the kid mentally wondered.

 

By the time Kaede had woken up, Makoto had already packed away his camping gear. The sheets, mat, and tent were rolled up and put away. His equipment was ready to go too. Like Kaede, Belle couldn't help but feel amused that Makoto - the usual sleepyhead - was up and about, though she admitted that he looked tired as always. Then while she finished the rest of her water, Makoto went to have breakfast. It was a small rice bowl with an egg.

And only after all this, Kotone burst out of her tent looking like a mess. "Oh no! I slept in!" she said to herself but also loud enough for everyone to hear. Her hair was a mess. When she saw everyone was up and about, she went to take apart of camping gear and - very unlike Makoto - tried stuffing everything into her bag. She needed breakfast and the group wouldn't be long before they departed too. Plus, Mori-kun was already training!

Makoto and Belle looked at Kotone with indifferent faces. Then they continued having breakfast as usual.

 

“And you know, Kotone, Mio-sama is absolutely right. Go to bed earlier. It makes a difference.” Makoto went over to help Kotone and neatly organise her bag. “Go and have breakfast.”

Kotone puffed her cheeks. “Y-You’re one to talk, Mako! I… I get lots of sleep!” But she accepted Makoto’s help and went to sit beside Belle.

 

Kiiroibara after packing everything up walked over to Kotone's stuff and nodded at Makoto "Would you like some help packing her stuff?" She asked him with a smile, she didn't feel like breakfast and knew it would make her groggy in the mornings

 

By then Kaede had already finished her packing up. Like Makoto, she also took her time to pack Hideki's stuff too. The aerial duo had also finished their sparring session by then. That said, they all had their own breakfast with Keito having her favorite corn kernels for it (provided by her human, of course).

 

Makoto looked at Kiiroibara. "Yes please," he replied. He unpacked Kotone's hastily stuffed bag to start neatly folding away the sheets and mat, just like how he would do it. He glanced at Kaede who was doing exactly what he was doing, packing stuff away. It seemed that Kaede shared some similarities with him.

Kotone made a face. "Hmm... Makoto seems very popular with the girls, and he's not even trying... Come now. I can pack my bags too!"

[Yeah, yeah. You tried that. Didn't work,] Belle squeaked. [Just eat your breakfast, Kotone. We have a day ahead of us.]

 

"Hey, uh..." Kaede called out to Kiiroibara. "Do you mind me shortening your name a bit? 'Kiiroibara' sounds too... mouthful," she asked. Kaede thought of calling the new girl "Kii-san" or "Kiirocchi" but had to make sure with Kiiroibara herself.

(Question to @Mortem: is Kiiroibara okay with alternate nicknames?)
