Pokemon Mispronunciations

I've always wondered whether the "c" is hard or soft in Arceus. :/

 

I'm not sure if it's a mispronunciation, but I always call Kyogre Key-ogr-ee. I heard it in a Poke-rap, and thought "hey, why not call it that?" Though people think it weird when I do, because it's not the way they pronounce it.

I dunno.

 

When I was younger, I pronounced Pikachi as Pie-kachu

Also, I have no idea how to pronounce Yveltal.

I assume it's hard so that it sounds similar to "archaeic" and "archaeology"

 

i always call Sabley Sabeley

 

It was hard in the movie, pronounced "Ark-ee-us." I say screw that though, and pronounce it "Ar-sea-us."

Arceus, ArSEEus
I sometimes call Mesprit MeSPIRIT
I call Skarmory SkAmory (I leave out the R sob)
And sometimes I say Ro-tom instead of Rowtome

Ohgawd, someone please teach me how to english too, I think I do all those things too except I pronounce Skarmory "Skymory." -_-

 

If you don't watch the anime and live in the Netherlands, you end up pronouncing a lot of Pokémon in a Dutch way xD Like Buizel and some others that I can't remember from the top of my head, but yeah I probably still mispronounce a lot.

 

A lot of people in the Author's Guild got to experience first hand my mispronunciations of several Pokémon names. XD

You still pronounce Glalie wrong every time you say it -_-

I used to mispronounce quite a few Pokémon names, especially Nidoking and Nidoqueen (I used to pronounce it as Nai-do-king/queen). I don't there there are any Pokémon whose name I still can't say correctly, although I never knew how to pronounce Milotic... Is it Mi-lotic or Mai-lotic? (It's always the i I seem to have trouble with...)

 

Oh yeah that's another one, I cannot pronounce that xD

 

I sometimes pronounce Milotic as Mill-oct-tic. I don't know why.

I also say Sabley as SAY-bell-eye. I have no idea how you actually pronounce it, but that's what I say.

And Arceus is ARK-ee-us to me. If you say the "c" soft is sounds like ARSE-y-us and that is not a name fit for the pokegod. xD

 

I've always been confused with Unown.
Is it un-known or oo-noun or oo-known.
Or I just call them the Poke-letters. Seems to get the point across

And Beartic. It's not that I can't pronounce it, but just that I call it bear-arctic. Because I think it sounds better that way.

aside form that and arceus(who i know is a hard C but like gengar i prefer arCeus int he Pokédex it accualy says Arkees)i didnt missprounounce i only missspell lel

In 4th grade, my friends and I used to talk about how it was pronounced "Arse-ee-us"
We were so immature. T___T

 

I have such trouble pronouncing Rayquaza.
Instead of Ray-QUAY-za, I say Ray-kwah-za.
Really should fix that habit.

 

I know I pronounce these wrong
Ampharos I pronounce as Am-PHAR-Ohs
Tropius I pronounce as Tro-PHI-us
I probably pronounce others wrong but I have most of them right because I watch the anime.

 

Ughh all the time haha. Pokémon pronunciations are so confusing, especially since even the anime can be inconsistent. (For example, I think they pronounce Bonsly as BON-zlee sometimes and BON-zlai other times.)

There are so many that I have no idea how to properly pronounce, so many that I always see Poketubers pronounce differently than me, who knows haha.

Some that immediately come to mind are:

• Milotic - I used to pronounce it MY-low-tick but now I pronounce it mil-AW-tick, I've heard both ways...
• Arceus - I pronounce it AR-see-us but I've also heard AR-kee-us.
• Rattata - I pronounce it RAT-uh-taw but I've also heard ruh-TAT-uh
• Audino - I pronounce it AW-din-oh but I've also heard aw-DEE-no and aw-DIE-no
• Kyogre - I pronounce it kai-OH-ger, but I used to pronounce it kai-OH-gray and I've heard others pronounce it that way too.
• Groudon - I pronounce it gr-OW-don but I used to have a friend who pronounced it GREW-don
• Rayquaza - I pronounce it ray-QWAY-zuh but I've also heard ray-QWAH-zuh
• Altaria - I pronounce it all-TAR-ee-uh but I've also heard all-TARE-ee-uh

The list goes on and on and on!
