Group RP Pokemon: My Scarlet Colored School Life (IC thread)

A steady stream of students heading to the dorms signifying a new academy year in the Naranja Academy, dubbed as "It's that season again" by older students. Yep, that season when the previous batch of fourth-years were replaced by a new batch of first-years and everyone else simply went up by one grade.

Fiore Volta

For one kid with platinum blonde hair, they felt particularly grateful that the uniforms here were unisex and could be mix-matched. Mainly because as an androgynous-presenting AMAB (but still unsure whether they should fully go enby), the uniform's summer shorts were too short for them. Autumn shorts, however, were alright, as were trousers.

Like any first-years, this kid was trying to locate their dorm house with the help of a school map. "Kinnowin, Kinnowin..." they muttered while still in the middle of reorienting themself. Walked several steps, looked at the map again just to make sure they got the direction right, walked again... only to end up bumping into a girl.

(This girl can be either Nemona, Kotone, or even Evergreen.)

Katey Russell

For one brunette with Skitty ears on her head (though it's actually a Skitty-eared headband), this was her third year in the academy. Her schoolbag had an island challenge amulet hanging on its zipper even though its relevance was way overdue at this point. Just like the previous year, she made a beeline to her dorm house only to stop upon overhearing a brown-haired girl in a neat braid musing to herself with a map on hand. A first-year, perhaps?

"Excuse me," the third-year came closer to her fellow brunette. "Are you at Kinnowin too?"

 

"Sure. I'm going there too, actually," the Skitty-eared brunette smiled, then offered a handshake. "Katherina Russell. Just call me Katey." The third-year girl -- Katey -- was somewhat tempted to add "Also known as Naranja's crazy cat lady," but decided against it. Why? Because she figured that the other girl would be better off seeing it herself.

 

(Friendly reminder: This is Katey's third year in the school, not her first. Or is it safe to assume that Clavell's welcoming speech had already done before this?)

Like Juliana, Katey remembered Clavell's words quite well. She'd previously taken a Paldean language class back in her first year, though her Paldean was probably still not as fluent as her English or Alolan (i.e. this universe's version of Hawaiian language) at this point. Nor did she know where the other girl came from.

One affirmative nod later, Katey took Juliana's hand. "Come on," she guided her to the Kinnowin House.

Evergreen

There was a certain green-haired girl who was walking toward the school wearing a winter uniform. Although she tried to hide her hairpins with the school beret, it just didn't seem to work for her, so as a result she had to live with wearing the hat between her hairpins. Unlike the other students, she also sported something like a white skirt for the bottom, which strangely went well with the winter uniform bottoms. Not that it mattered, since she was wearing a vest and and blazer too. Didn't she look warm in that? This girl also carried a school bag on her shoulders. On top of that, she was wearing a face mask so that only her pinkish-red eyes were visible.

In fact, she was trying to look around for her dorm ("Valencia... Valencia..." she said to herself) with a map in her hands when she bumped into from her side. "Ah!" she cried, stumbling forward.

Kotone and Makoto

Whereas in a different part of the campus, a certain auburn-redhaired girl and a bluehaired boy were wandering around to look for their dorm. They looked like the most opposite couple ever - despite their young age. One looked warm and bubbly, the other cool and reserved. In fact, the latter looked stoic and couldn't care less for the girl who was constantly clinging to his arm.

 

(Well, fair.)

"Augh!" the kid teetered backwards and fell on their butt. They gingerly stood up and offered to help the girl they'd just bumped into up. "Sorry. Are you o...kay?"

One closer look revealed that they ended up bumping into a green-haired girl with bangs and a mask covering her face. However, what did strike them odd was the skirt-like thingy worn over her trousers. Was it, perhaps, her personal touch on the uniform?

(For the record, Fiore's wearing the winter uniform because the first day of school counts as a "formal event" to them.)

 

At that point, Evergreen had stumbled to the ground. "Ow..." she said, and then gladly took up the offer from the boy (dressed in a winter uniform) to help her on her feet. He was about to say something but for the strange look on his face, as if he were examining her from top to bottom. "Uh... Are you okay?" she said telepathically (since this green-haired girl couldn't speak with her mouth, hence the face mask). "What is it? Is there something on my face?"

 

"Uh, yeah, but--" the blonde kid stuttered at the girl's accusation. "Something on her face", she said? He couldn't even see her face thanks to the mask. "I just don't remember seeing a skirt like that. Did you... custom-make it?" curiosity ensued on their part considering they didn't see other girls in the school -- not even that one Skitty-eared girl over there -- wearing such a skirt. Well, technically they'd seen that kind of skirt on a Kirlia, but never on a human girl until recently.

(Spoiler: Or so he thought. )

(I’ll make it so that Evergreen is wearing mittens - and despite the mask, her eyes aren’t covered at least )

“Oh, this? Uh… it is custom, yes, that’s it,” the green-haired girl said. “It’s hard to get, but it looks good.” She was worried at first first whether the skirt looked too out of place, but it could have been worse. However, it was noticeable and was attracting attention. Not to mention she was wearing gloves to hide her hands too. Whatever the green-haired girl was thinking, she must look out of place.

 

Fiore Volta

"O-oh..."

As much as the kid wanted to know more about it, the dorm rooms wouldn't wait, so they settled for a quick introduction instead. "I'm Fiore, by the way. Fiorello Volta." the blonde kid -- Fiore -- offered a handshake.

Katey Russell

Once Katey made her way into the Kinnowin House, she soon found out that it's not just the students who were trying to locate their dorm rooms. A lot of resident Hariyama were coming and going with furniture and students' luggage in tow which was normal on the first day of school like this. Katey navigated her way to the room she'd been occupying since her first year there: Room 234 on the second floor. And interestingly, little did she know that Juliana's room was on the same floor as hers.

 

Evergreen

Evergreen hesitated at first, not knowing if her hand (which was similar to but not quite like a human hand) would giver her away, despite her mitten covering it. Slowly, she took the boy's hand. "Nice to meet you, Fiore. I'm Evergreen," she said, telepathically. With her mask covering her mouth, she hoped she didn't give too much away. Oh gosh. First the hand, now the voice. What next? "Um... what dorm are you staying in?"

Kotone and Makoto

Soon enough, the auburn-redhaired girl had brought herself and the blue-haired boy to their dorm, namely Mikan House. They were bewildered (or at least the girl was) at the sight of the resident Machoke going in and out of the building with stacks of furniture and luggage. On one hand, the girl was excited to move in. The boy, not so much.

"Let's find our rooms, Makoto!" the girl said.

"Sure, Kotone," the boy replied.

They moved into their rooms on the third floor of Mikan House, which seemed appropriate because Kotone and Makoto were third-year transfer students. As soon as they moved into their respective rooms, they took very different approaches. Kotone went about decorating her room whereas Makoto went straight to bed.

 

(Brain fart went for too long. Apologies. )

Fiore Volta

Evergreen. That was a nice name. While Fiore wondered what might be inside Evergreen's mittens (it felt... a little different than how it normally feels when they shook someone's hand), they understood that autumns here in Paldea could be quite cool and it might take awhile for recently arrived foreigners to adapt to Paldean weathers. "It's Kinnowin--" Fiore replied with their free hand trying to point somewhere but still undecided on where. Where the bloody hell is it again?

Katey Russell

The first thing Katey did as soon as she moved into her room was letting Florin and Mao, her Floragato and Alolan Persian respectively, out from their Pokeballs. The two immediately went on a session of play fight (as cats typically do in multi-cat households) while their human was checking on her timetable delivered through the mail slot. Literature, math, science, trainer studies, PE, art, geography... she kept eyeing on the timetable. Yep, all good.

 

Evergreen

Suddenly nervous about the handshake, Evergreen then started walking away. "Um... Well, I hope to talk to you again, Fiore. You know, I still need to find where I'm staying..." she said, bowing politely and making sure that her mitten was on securely. Even she needed to look around for her dorm too, wherever that was.

Kotone and Makoto

Whereas for Kotone, she received her school schedule and began making preparations for what would happen when the term began. Not too far away in the same building, Makoto had gone to sleep. Their Pokémon were let out respectively to lounge around. Whereas Makoto's room was about the same when he had entered it, Kotone's was decorated to the full.

 

"Oh, okay," Fiore sheepishly replied. With Evergreen on her merry way, they eventually found the dorm house they were looking for.

Once inside, Fiore went on to find their lodging for the next 4 years: Room 147 on the first floor. This particular floor was one of the co-ed floors where boys, girls, and enbies would stay throughout the school year. Their luggage and timetable were already there in the room by the time Fiore came in, so all they needed to do for now was to unpack their belongings and check their schedule out.

Their Eevee, meanwhile, could be seen lounging around in the dorm room.
