"All of a sudden he heard a mighty roar and felt something hot nearby." Serena goes on. "He opened his eyes, and there before him was a six-headed Hydreigon, tongues of flame spurting from his mouth. Taran sprang to his feet."

”Begone, you evil Pokémon! Am I a Pignite for you to make into smoked ham?” Ash challenges, as if the Hydreigon is there.

”Your Mareep have trampled my silken grass, you will pay for it with your life!” Brock shoots back as the Hydreigon.

"But Taran snatched the magic whip from his belt and went with it at the Hydreigon, and before the minute was up, the Hydreigon’s heads had rolled to the ground." Serena continues. Ash actually cracks the prop whip for effect.

"Taran found the Hydreigon's cave, and went inside." Misty takes over telling the story. "Everything in it sparkled and shone and was so beautiful that he could hardly believe his own eyes! He sat down at the table, where a silver tinderbox lay."

She grins. "Imagine his surprise when the Guardian of Flames, Entei appeared before him!"

"Thank you for releasing me from the Hydreigon, good lad--I now pledge my loyalty to you. Name what you wish, and it is yours." Brock fills in Entei's dialogue.

”I only ask to see where the king’s Mareep are.” Ash replies as Taran.

"Entei was also pleased with Taran's humility, and granted him permission to ride on his back in addition to granting his wishes." Misty continues.

 

"He went to the glade but the Mareep were not there, and though he called them again and again not one appeared--it was as if the earth had swallowed them." Brock continues the tale. "But Taran remembered the flute his father had given him, and, pulling it out from under his belt, began to play."

Ash starts another set as Brock continues "In moments, all the Mareep were running toward him, as if they were glad to see him. Taran drove the flock home, where Princess Christina saw him again.

”The shepherd is back with the flock, Father!” Serena calls to Brock as Princess Christina.

”Really? I feared that the six-headed Hydreigon ate him long ago.” Brock deadpans as the king.

”No, he didn’t, Father. Come and see for yourself!” Serena calls as Ash arrives on the stage, still playing.

"The king looked out the window to see better, and stared at the approaching flock in amazement." Misty interjects as Brock feigns surprise as Ash's arrival.

"He has done well to kill off two of the Hydreigons that have plagued the realm, but I worry the third will be his biggest challenge yet." Brock muses as the king.

"Taran walked happily along and winked at Princess Christina, who sat at the window and smiled." Misty continues as Ash finishes the set. "So many were the Mareep that the king did not bother counting them but stood there with a big smile on his face."

”Will let your youngest daughter marry me?” Ash requests as Taran.

”Let us not be too hasty--you have done well to slay two of the Hydreigons that have long brought terror on the realm, but the third is the strongest of all." Brock cautions as the king. "If you can defeat him, you will have delivered the realm, and Christina is yours."

"The following morning Taran took some food, and drove the Mareep out to pasture. They came to a glade grown with silken grass, where he had lunch and lay down for a nap under a tree." Misty narrates.

"All of a sudden there came so loud a roar that the leaves on the trees shook and trembled." Serena intones. "Taran immediately remembered the king’s warning."

”How can I sleep when the eldest of the Hydreigons is on his way here!” Ash gasps in character.

"Sure enough, the eldest Hydreigon was coming." Misty continues. "He had nine heads, and so fierce were the flames pouring from his mouth that any trees and grass in his path were scorched to ashes."

"Make it good!" Serena whispers to Brock, who nods in response.

"The Hydreigon saw Taran and let out a mighty roar." Misty continues, while at the same time bracing herself for Brock's very realistic Hydreigon roar...

Sure enough, Brock did unleash a fairly convincing Hydreigon roar, to startled gasps and screams of delight from the crowd. The older students knew well that Brock could mimic Pokémon and other beings as well as human voices, and that included growls and roars.

The boys perform the rigamarole again. ”What are you trampling my grass for?”

”Because I was here first."

”I’ll swallow you like a Venonat!”

”I would love to see you try!”

"With that, Taran snatched the whip from his belt, and soon all nine heads lay on the ground." Misty narrates as Ash cracks the prop whip for effect.
