@Sugar Brock looked over Alyssa's form. "Almost perfect...you want to keep your toes at a 90 angle to your target. There should be no bending at the knees or waist, and no leaning either." He prepared a shot of his own before continuing "Remember, your head is the only thing that turns toward the target and your arms are the only body part that moves." With that, he fired, hitting the bullseye of his own target.
Alyssa nocked her third arrow and this time put her contacts in. She took aim with all of Brock's advice in mind. She counted to 10 and let the arrow fly. This time, her aim was true as can be as it flew towards the target...
@Sugar Brock smiled as Alyssa's shot sailed into the bullseye of her target. "Very good!" he smiled as he applauded. "I don't think you've forgotten too much."
"I guess I'm not rusty after all, am I? Looks like I just needed a quick touch-up rather than a massive overhaul." Alyssa packed the rest of her arrows into the bag slung over her shoulder.
The skate park was awe inspiring to see--skaters and skateboarders were already present, speeding and spinning through the many jumps. Of course, lessons were also offered with both rollerblades and skateboards to any that wished to learn.
Alyssa simply observed everything that was going on in the park. She lacked any equipment to go skating, so learning by vision was the next best thing.
@Sugar Some skaters weaved through the raps, while others perfected their moves on the half pipe. The rollerblade and skateboard rentals were nearby, if one wished to learn.
Alyssa headed over to where the rentals were and inquired about a lesson. "Yes, do you have any intermediate classes available? Also, I'd like to rent a pair of rollerblades and a skateboard please."
@Sugar "We do have lessons for all skill levels." the clerk replied. "The next intermediate class is tomorrow--are you wanting lessons in blading or boarding?"
"Excellent. I'll try my hand at boarding please." Alyssa's skateboarding skills were actually quite polished, but she needed to get to that next level. She wanted to show what she could really do.
@Sugar An attendant brought out a rental skateboard for Alyssa to try. "Once you feel comfortable on the board, we'll turn you loose."
Alyssa was a little nervous trying to ride a skateboard again. She always had good balance, but she was still very scared of falling off and embarassing herself.
@Sugar Luckily, the attendant kept a watchful eye as Alyssa balanced. "Relax--even master boarders had to start somewhere." he assures her. "Protective gear is always in style."
"Wake up Alyssa" Alyssa's voice scolded her. Alyssa began to pick up some speed, picked up some air, then completely nailed a full 180 and landed back perfectly. It was the most impressive thing she had ever done on a skateboard up to that point.
Alyssa turned around towards the boarders. "This is the first time I've ever pulled something like that. I'm no better than a novice though, so I have a lot more to learn. But that certainly was fun; I actually want to try another trick now..."
@Sugar "Hey, we all were newbies once." another boarder smiled. "It just takes a little time and lots of practice."
Alyssa was already having the time of her life. If she had discovered the athletic complex earlier, she woud've been a near pro at this point. It was a really great feeling.
