@Sugar @122 Generation Brock started the panel by talking about how "Miracle Morning" started, and how they wanted to stand out from the inane sketches and humiliating stunts that were common at the time. Misty adds they wanted to stay FAR away from emulating "Lucky Lucky Mystery"
"This could get interesting. I really hope thee's that one crazy story that everyone can remember." The room got relatively quiet as the panel went on.
@Sugar Brock went on to confirm what many fans had long suspected--the mini games were inspired by Mario Party (but their contacts at Nintendo loved the idea of seeing some Mini Games being brought to life as real games, and gave them their blessing.) Misty added that since Super Mario Party had come out some new games inspired by that game were coming soon.
@Sugar @122 Generation Brock went on to explain that there is a method to the madness in the scoring. The group would decide on a reasonable goal, and once one of them hit the goal, they would get a prize. Serena then explained the origin of the "Pity Point"--the single point awarded to someone who put in a heroic effort and still came in last. It had actually come about after Misty failed spectacularly at Balancing Act, their version of "Tightrope Treachery". Brock had felt Misty still had put in a heroic effort, and gave her a single point. Ash called it the "Pity Point", and the name stuck.
"Now there's something I can really get behind. I would sign up for that in a heartbeat." Alyssa pondered about trying it in her head.
"A 'pity point'? Gosh. I wouldn't want to earn that." Martine muttered to herself. Still, she was looking forward to what the mini games would bring about. She hadn't played them since she was a kid.
@122 Generation (earning the pity point is actually a goodwill gesture for someone that put in a heroic effort and still lost--it's not mean-spirited or condescending)
Ash talks about which games from Mario Party made good games in real life. Serena adds ways they made the games their own.
"This keeps getting better by the minute, doesn't it?" Alyssa and the crowd were very excited to hear about this part.
Martine too was interested. These mini games looked fairly simple, but she could understand why it would be competitive.
@Sugar @122 Generation Misty transitioned into the sketches. She also explained how each of the recurring sketches came to be.
Misty makes very clear that offensive material is not tolerated on the show. She adds that Miracolore works with the writers to make sure the sketches are consistent in tone.
Ash then talks about his favorite sketch--"The Miracle Showcase". The gentle parody of TV talent shows was also a fan favorite, so cheers went up at the name. He goes on to commend the writers for coming up with creative, believable, and silly "acts" for the sketches.
