@122 Generation "All right, let's start here, at Princess Caliste's first scene." the auditioner replied. She next read Nichole's first line. "Caliste, you understand that you must marry someone of a royal line..."
Elsewhere, Alyssa was at Ivory Blossom, a place she hadn't been to in a while. It was nice and relatively quiet for this time of day. Nevertheless, she ordered her tea and a biscuit & took a seat at an empty table.
Martine had to glance at the script a couple times. Such was her training back in a restaurant that allowed her to memorise short lines in a matter of seconds. But emotionally? That was a different story. "I know, but of all the princes, kings, and emperors that have come here, I do not love any of them." Martine said dramatically. She looked like she was having fun already.
@122 Generation "Surely there's someone you will marry..." the auditioner smiled as Nichole. Martine seemed to be taking a more dramatic approach with Caliste. But she also seemed careful to not be melodramatic about the role.
Martine, who often played around with her employer by questioning his love life, couldn't help but smile at the auditioner's line. She (Martine) acted like she was confused. "But how can I marry someone I never loved?"
@122 Generation The auditioner nodded, now that she understood Princess Caliste's dilemma. "Very well, what is your dream prince like?" she asked as Nichole.
It almost looked like Martine took the question a little personally too, and some giggles escaped her lips. "He is kind..." she replied as the princess, "...is strong in both body and heart..." She glanced at the script again, "... is wise, and knows how to make me laugh!"
@122 Generation The auditioner giggled a little. "That sounds like the kind of prince I would want too!" she smiled as Nichole.
"Oh boy, I hope Martine's audition is going well...I do worry about that girl." Alyssa said out loud. She figured it was going more than fine.
Martine smiled widely such that it was infectious to others, but looking back at the script, she changed her expression to look uneasy. She stared off into space. "But right now, that kind of prince is only a mirage..." and then her eyes brightened. "I'm going to take a stroll in the garden before I retire for the night..."
@122 Generation "Okay--I will prepare your bed while you are out." the auditioner smiles. As herself again, she gives Martine the sheet music to "My Beautiful Mirage." Now for the singing portion of the audition."
Alyssa relaxed and daydreamed about how nice it would be if she did land the part. There were a lot of auditionees, and there were a few days before the postings. Nevertheless, she didn't want to jinx her chances by mentioning them.
@122 Generation "Okay, cue the music!" the auditioner called. The sound crew then started a relaxed melody... Spoiler: The song's lyrics and tune As I sit here on this moonlit night The stars shine so bright as I dream of you... Searching for someone that I love, My heart aches with such despair... I look up and wish upon a shooting star That you'll come to me and stay by my side, Deliver me from my darkest fears, But, still no one comes... Then, in my window, I see you "Come here and take my hand," But when I touch it, nothing's there! You seem to have disappeared! Although I cannot see you here, You are always real inside of me, Forever and ever, I'll always love you, My beautiful mirage! My beautiful mirage! (interlude) Now the sun has set and day has turned to night, And all of the songs have faded away What should I do? I'm all alone My heart cries for someone brave... Maybe he will find me by my shining tears And tell me "It's all right, do not despair" His kiss assures me all is well As he holds me close... His kindness surrounds me and protects me this night... No matter where I have to go, He always lives in my heart! Although I cannot see you here, You are always real inside of me, Forever and ever, I'll always love you, My beautiful mirage! My beautiful mirage! Although I cannot see you here, You are always real inside of me, Forever and ever, I'll always love you, My beautiful mirage! My beautiful mirage! (The song's basic tune)
Martine had the script open before her as she tried to improvise her singing. She was not familiar with this song, so working around it would take some work.
@122 Generation Despite Martine not being familiar with the song, she at least put her heart into it. That would give someone a role more than all the preparation in the world.
