"Long time! Tacky... I don't know about that," Martine said. "I'm looking for sundresses myself." She looked at what Alyssa was looking at. "It's flashy. I'll give you that."
@Sugar @122 Generation It didn't help the price was on the high side--but most of that was due to island sticker shock (something Brock had warned the group about before departure) Luckily, each traveler had received a generous amount of spending money to use for buying supplies and souvenirs.
"I'll save my money for the time being. Unless I see something I really like. Anyway, what kind of sundress are you looking for? Anything in particular?"
Martine grinned. "I'm not looking for any sundress in particular. As long as it looks good." She looked at the waterfront. "Then again, it has to match my hair and look good on the beach."
(Green maybe) "Okay then! Thanks, Alyssa! You're the best," Martine said. She was more than happy to have a shopping buddy.
@Sugar @122 Generation Over in the sale rack was a lovely pale green sundress with silver trim. The palm print patterns also added some flare to the outfit.
"Say, that one looks just like the one you're looking for. It's pretty cute, I must admit. Why don't you give it a shot?"
"This one? It looks pretty nice." Martine picked up the dress to look at the palm prints. It looked like the sort of thing that softened the contrast between her hair and the green. She went to the fitting room. "Be right back," she said. Minutes later, with the dress fitting nicely, Martine stepped out.
Alyssa hummed nonchalantly. "Looking spiffy. I like this look, itnfits you very nicely. Personally, I think you should get this one."
"I'm glad you said that, because I feel the same! It looks really really cool," Martine said. She looked at its price tag. "And it's in budget... Hmm..." She paused to think about whether she should buy it. "It's in budget! So I should get this!" Martine quickly dashed off to get back her regular clothes. "I will wear this sundress for the day."
@Sugar @122 Generation (what would you guys like to do now? The welcome luau is not until later that evening, on the beach near the hotel)
@Sugar @122 Generation The beach wasn't too terribly crowded--in addition to surfers, divers, and swimmers, there were people playing volleyball on the shore. A band played tropical tinged rock music on a stage, and an ice cream vendor made his rounds on the beach. Special recepticles and signs reminding beachgoers to watch for Pyukumuku on the beach also dotted the shore.
