@Sugar @122 Generation (the lecture's not quite ready to begin yet) The Trainer's School auditorium hummed with activity as people from across Alola and around the world took their seats. Many debated what the epic Prof. Kukui would be discussing was about
@Sugar @122 Generation (about an hour and thirty minutes, but I'll hit the highlights to keep it interesting)
@Sugar @122 Generation The lights flashed the five minute warning--the lecture was about to start. Luckily, Prof. Kukui wasn't known to linger too much on a topic--most of his lectures were about 60 to 90 minutes long. A lecture going over two hours was fairly rare, and only if the topic was very complex.
@Sugar @122 Generation Kukui welcomes everyone and introduces his topic--the Alolan epic known as the Travels of the Jeweled Child. he explains that many believe it is the ancient origin of the Island Challenge; since the traditional Challenge route matches up to many descriptions in the poem.
@Sugar @122 Generation Kukui brings up a map of the traditional Island Challenge route. He then overlays the route described in the epic on top of this, allowing the audience to see just how closely they match up.
@Sugar @122 Generation Aside from an occasional deviation, the routes match. Kukui explains that long ago, the route for the Island Challenge and the epic's route matched one to one.
Now the story was starting to get interesting. How could both match up perfectly as each went along? Coincidence perhaps...or was it something else entirely?
@Sugar @122 Generation Kukui explains that the routes began to diverge for trainer safety. He explains with all the Bewear and Midnight Lycanroc attacks, a few traditional sites were removed
How awful that must have been. Sites being destroyed by wild Pokémon. Perhaps they look different and have been restored today.
@Sugar @122 Generation Kukui is quick to explain that the sites were not damaged. He clarifies that the sites were taken off the route for the safety of trainers and the well-being of the Pokémon.
@Sugar @122 Generation After the lecture ended, the group returned to the hotel. Tomorrow was a free day, so the group could do whatever they wanted. There were still excursions if you couldn't think of anything to do, but a spot was not guaranteed.
