"I think I'm getting used to this, a few more practice rounds and I'll play my first song with no hiccups."
@Sugar "The key is to focus your air, practice slowly, and make the notes sing." Ash reminded Alyssa. He had noticed some of Alyssa's notes wavering due to an unfocused air stream. @122 Generation By now, a modest sized crowd had turned out to listen to Brock's vina, and the tip jar was almost full. Yuki, his Alolan Vulpix, emptied the coins into a larger jar for safekeeping.
"How's about we try it again? Maybe the second try will produce better results. I'll be sure to practice a healthy amount too."
@Sugar Ash nodded. "Remember--focus your air to make the notes sing. Once you're comfortable with these three notes, we'll move on to more notes and more tunes." @122 Generation Brock was in the process of playing the full version of his preferred demo tune, "The Scent of Flowers Everywhere." It helped the tune was relatively simple, and an easy way to introduce tremolo to the budding vina student.
Alyssa concentrated on the notes and played them one more time. She felt really good about this attempt.
@Sugar This time, the notes rang cleanly. "Well done!" Ash smiled. "Now we'll add in the left hand, which plays the bottom notes of the scale."
The tune Brock was playing reminded Martine when she was introduced to guitar playing. There was probably a full version of the song too.
@Sugar Ash decides to introduce the left hand notes one at a time, starting with the F note. To get an F, the right hand covers all its notes, and the left hand adds the first finger. Ash adds that the sharp and flat notes will be added in once Alyssa is familiar with the C major scale, as many of them are harder to get on a diatonic instrument. @122 Generation Brock noticed Martine in the audience and smiled. "Hi there--any requests?"
@122 Generation Brock smiled. "All right--I'll keep the tunes coming for as long as I can." With that, he starts a majestic melody from the Gejikou repertoire--which attracts some kids...
"This seems a little difficult..." Alyssa said in a very nervous tone. "But I'll give it my best try." She prepared more than usual for this one.
@Sugar The first attempt at an F is a little wavery. "Remember--you're playing lower notes, so relax." Ash assures her. "Relax just enough to maintain a good sound."
Alyssa took a nice, deep breath and played an F note again. It sounded pretty good, she could see it flutter into the sky.
@Sugar Ash smiled when the second attempt came out clean. "Nicely done--ready to try a four note tune?"
