@Ignem The basic premise: Long ago, in a Kanto and Johto of the past, the first road connecting the two regions was a major event--overnight towns, shops, theaters, and inns sprung up along the route, and more people began venturing outside their hometowns than ever before. This enthusiasm for travel led to a lot of Beautifly temples, shrines and symbolism along both the main route, and all the side routes, symbolizing the freedom and promise of travel. Eventually, the long and winding route comprising all the Beautifly temples became known as the Beautifly Road. Starting from Masara--what is today Pallet Town--the route makes a large circle through both Kanto and Johto (not counting the sea routes) before circling around to what is today Indigo Plateau, where the grand Aiiro City once stood. People walked the Beautifly Road for many reasons--some did it in honor or in memory of someone, some wished to see what lay beyond their hometowns, some walked the road for religious reasons, some sought their fortunes in the cities, and some just wished to see everything both regions had to offer. But the long journey was not without its dangers--bandits, wild Pokémon, yokai and rogue warriors wait to ambush unsuspecting travelers and caravans. This has led escort agencies and heroes for hire springing up to assist travelers on every stretch of the route, so if you don't wish to walk the road alone, you don't have to. Now its your turn to walk the Beautifly Road to the Aiiro City--what wonders, terrors and surprises await you on your long journey to the Temple of the Beautifly Princess in the Aiiro City? Sign up here with the following info: Your character's name (at least have it sound somewhat Japanese) Your character's age Your character's physical appearance Your character's personality/known history Your character's Pokémon (if any--any known Pokémon can be on your team, but be prepared to explain how you got a Legendary if you want a Legendary on your team) Your character's current inventory (what your character is carrying--you start with 1000 coins and can earn more by completing quests and doing good deeds) Why is your character walking the road? Spoiler: Tips, Strategies, and Advice --Since this reflects a fantastic Kanto and Johto, I will be using the real cities' and towns' Japanese names to denote a major location. Other landmarks, towns, and cities will have more descriptive names. --There are side routes as well as the main route you are on--and it is worth your while to venture off the beaten path! --The road is broken up by towns, cities, temples (the main goal on your adventure) landmarks, dojos, theaters, and post stations--medium to large places where travelers can rest, restock on supplies, send and receive letters and gifts, take in some entertainment (as many of them have a theater), hire a hero for hire, or take on sidequests--usually to defeat a yokai, wild Pokémon, or rogue warrior. Heroes for hire can help you on these quests. --If you hire a hero for hire to protect you on the road, they will typically stay with you until you reach a post station, at which point they will ask if you want them to continue traveling with you. If you say no, they will leave after you pay them their fee. But there are four special heroes for hire that can go with you the whole way--Ash, Misty, Brock, and Serena. Their fees are much cheaper than other heroes for hire you may find at a post station. --Plays, festivals, and other activities are mainly to help give the world flavor, but sometimes a play may have a clue for a current quest or hint at a quest in the area!
@Ignem Yes--this takes place in a Kanto-Johto of the past (based on a fantastic ancient Japan, in honor of Pokémon's origins)
So pokeballs don't exist, alright Spoiler: Tyson Name: Tyson Yamato Age: 19 Physical appearance: Tyson has black hair and blue eyes, standing around 6' 2. Wears a black gi secured by a red obi, with red wrist bands and boots. Personality: Tyson lived in Masara for a long time. He helped with his parents farm there till he got to know about the Beautifly road which connected. Tyson insisted his parents to let him go to the journey through the Beautifly road. He wanted to do it because his life was lacking a bit of thrill for a period of time. His parents agreed and helped him prepare for his journey. Reason for travel: He is travelling on the Beautifly road to get some of the adventure he has been lacking while sitting in Masara town.
@Ignem Looks good so far--does your character have any Pokémon, and what's currently in their inventory at the moment? Do you plan to have Ash and Serena go with you (as they are Masara's resident yokai hunters)?
Well in his inventory he has a money the 1000 coins, a dagger, food for himsel for 3 days. For Pokémon I am thinking he makes one his friend on the way, since I have too many favourites on me. You can decide one which will it be. The yokai hunters, Ash and Serena can travel with him but not right from the start(if that's okay with you) I have a little idea how can we get them into the rp.
@Ignem That works for me--I'm going to start it as 1 on 1 unless someone else joins in. I'm still building the route you will be taking, but I have enough in place to get started.
@Ignem How Battle Works Inevitably, you will have to fight on your journey--here's how battle works Battles are prefaced by "Battle! Tyson vs. (monster)" Your character starts with 100 HP--you can level up by defeating monsters and finishing quests. Your HP and status effects (both positive and negative) are color coded: Green means your HP is okay Yellow means you could use some healing... Red means you are in danger, and you need to heal NOW! Negative Statuses: Poison is purple--you will steadily lose HP until cured. Paralysis is light yellow--you can't move, and your attacks aren't as effective. Sleep is lavender--you will sleep until awakened or attacked. Burn is orange--your attacks won't be as powerful, and you won't move as quickly. Freeze is cyan--you won't be able to do anything until thawed. Positive statuses: Haste is light blue--you will move faster for one battle Regen is light green--your HP and chi (magic power) will steadily recover for one battle, or for two in game hours out of battle Aura is gold--you are invincible for one battle Blessed is pink--you are protected from both physical and magical effects for one battle Power is peach--your attacks are more powerful for a little while. When you post what your character does, I'll roll on an RNG set to 1-100 Anything above 50 is a hit, anything below 50 is a miss. Anything above 75 is a Critical Hit! Anything below 25 is a Critical Failure...
RPG feel I like that! But its not totally turn based right? More like MMORPG we can move freely, but fights are under some rules.
@Ignem (It's semi turn based--what's happening is in real time, just written out in a turn based format for ease of play)
@Ignem Stats Explained Your character has six stats that grow as you continue down the road: Strength is how physically strong your character is. Battle in melee combat, physical activity, or lifting things are just a few ways to raise Strength. Dexterity is how quickly you move, and how effective ranged attacks (archery, thrown weapons, etc) will be. Resolve is how well you hold up to damage, and how well you can resist unpleasant effects. Training body and mind is one way to raise this. Knowledge is how powerful chi based (magical attacks) will be. Channeling chi and meditation are two ways to raise this Wisdom is how well you can read between the lines, dispel illusion, and see through deception. Studying and meditation are two ways to raise this Luck is how fortunate you are, and how likely people, Pokémon, and creatures will listen to you. Taking up a cultural art (music, dance, acting, writing, storytelling, chess/Go, etc.), doing a good deed, or carrying a lucky charm are some ways to boost this.
Ah okay don't know anything bout that. Considering its in Hisui, so are the pokeballs present? I think they are called wood balls
@Ignem The primitive Poke Balls we see in the Trailers are there. I happened to find my old map, so if I just swapped around the town names, we could make it work
