Pokemon that look connected

Sharpedo and the Gible line look somewhat connected to me, almost as if it was some kind of ancient splitting of lines. They are quite similar in some respects, especially with yellow star shape it shares with Garchomp and the general shark-like design of the dragons. Gible is straight-up referred to as the 'land-shark Pokémon'.




There just seems to be some kind of connection there, to me.

Then there's also the Kabutops-Genesect thing. As far as I know they haven't been officially connected besides the specific time period being mentioned, but things add up there.

 

For me, apart from everything in the OP, it's the Aron line and Glalie.

They all have that hockey mask+blue eyes look.

I also see links between Pinsir and Heracross, as well as The Cacnea and Gulpin lines.

 

Clefable and Gengar obviously, same shape... pachirisu and emolga definitely

 

The Clefable/Gengar thing is interesting, I remember reading theories about how Gengar is the shadow of Clefable, with the shape and being called 'the shadow Pokémon'. I find it kind of interesting too how normal and ghost Pokémon can't damage each other with moves of their own type; you're not going to hurt your shadow and your shadow can't hurt you.

Luvdisc and Alomomola definitely stand out for me, everyone was so sure that Alomomola was going to be an evo for Luvdisc, but joke's on us

My reason: As odd as this is; some of the pictures I've seen drawn of both of these Pokémon (both fan art and legit art), just makes me think "Hi! We're an evolution chain!" I think it's mainly because of the simple circular shape of their head and the black outline around their eyes. Plus both of them do not have legs or arms. (I know Misdreavus doesn't either but Moo!) There was another reason why this makes me think this, but I currently forgot. :V

I also thought that too about Sharpedo and Gible. They both have a similar color scheme and both have a weird yellow star thing on their head. It makes me think that they were possibly thinking of making them an evolution at one point. But that's just me xDD

 

I've read a lot of theories about that one, Ben - They're so easy to treat as true as well. Some fanarts of Mew and Mewtwo also have Ditto mixed in.
