    The Kousai School of the Performing Arts bustled with activity as students, mentors, and teachers all went about their routines. A new term had just gotten underway, and with it came an influx of new students.

    The music building was already filled with the sounds of hundreds of instruments, and the thousands of voices of students as they learned the music to the first major production of the term--an adventurous family friendly version the Kalosian classic "The Three Musketeers". This production was going to be notable because the student body had begged to see Ash, Misty, and Brock in the title roles, and now they got their wish.

    But far away from the group rehearsals, four best friends were practicing their own music:

    A black haired boy serenaded a group of Fletchlings with a concert flute, all while keeping an eye on the Pikachu romping in the colorful leaves.

    An orange haired girl was inside one of the building's many practice rooms, running through a beautiful Galarian waltz on a well loved red-brown violin with some wave decor.

    Near the common grounds, a second violin played a more jazzy melody, with an acoustic guitar playing backup. A large Midori Mist cup with the word "TIPS" on it encouraged passing students to leave some coins as thanks for the upbeat music ringing across the grounds. The guitarist, an older boy with tanned skin, would silently thank anyone that dropped in a tip with a polite nod, focused all the while on strumming the lush chords his fiddler companion was playing an intricate solo over.

    A young, brown-haired girl with an Eevee riding on her head (much like Let's Go Eevee's starter) just entered the music room to find lots of activities happening there. She looked around... and eventually passed by the practice rooms. She tried to peek into one of them, but failed due to her petite figure. Instead, her Eevee got to peek into the room, finding an orange-haired girl playing her violin.

    (This one is Misty, right? She might find a pair of Eevee's ears if she notices someone peeking into her practice room.)

    Seeing some Eevee ears peeking in the practice room caught Misty off guard. "Oh, hello! Did your master want to practice in here?" she asked the Eevee. "Just have to finish practicing 'The Circhester Waltz' for an upcoming performance, and I'll be done for today."

    The Eevee looked down as if asking her trainer, but all the latter could say was an awkward "I-". And yes, she heard the other girl asking her Eevee.

    Misty, meanwhile, reset a metronome to a slow waltz tempo. Now to work on the ending to this tune...I can already do this bowing pattern at the ends of the "verses", but it's doing several of them in a row that's throwing me off...

    With that, she attempted the awkward ending at half speed. The elegant phrase took shape in fits and starts--but Misty's goal was to do it at speed with no mistakes. Once she could do it at half speed with no mistakes, she would speed the metronome up by 10 beats.

    As whoever's inside went back to her practice session, the girl in orange and light purple sat on the floor while leaning on the wall, lifted her Eevee and put her in her lap. "Say, Ava, I take it we should wait for her to finish?" the girl asked, to which the now-named Ava nodded. "Vui!"

    After about five more minutes of trying and failing to get the ending to the waltz right, Misty just decided to call it a day. "Oh well, there's always tomorrow." she thought as she carefully packed up her instrument and sheet music.

    She noticed the girl and her Eevee waiting. "Okay, this room's all yours if you want to practice."

    "Actually..." the girl finally admitted. "I don't have a violin..." While she does know her dream career, she wasn't that sure where to start from. So typical for a new student.

    Not far from the first flutist, a small group of Falinks marched onwards, following a young teen as they headed towards the music building with a brisk pace. In their arms, they clutched a large pack of paper - mostly orchestral sheet music, but the occasional algebra worksheet could be found near the back of the pile.
    "New term. new music... new everything to catch up with," Arin grumbled as she tried to rearrange some of her files on the way, nearly dropping them.
    The Falinks behind her continued onwards, but as the one at the very end caught wind of the flute tune, it hopped out of formation to run over - prompting the rest to follow, leaving only the brass at the front following their Trainer. One or two of the Fletchlings quickly fluttered away from the edge as the five smaller Falinks hopped up to listen.

    Ash didn't anticipate a few Falinks coming to listen to him practice. "Oh, hi!" he smiled at the spheroid beings. "Were you maybe coming to listen to me practice too?" A few of the Fletchling and the Pikachu returned, as if the boy's voice was an assurance that the Falinks were not a threat.

    "No instrument? No problem." Misty smiled. "You can rent an instrument for up to two weeks, or you can sign up for the Rent to Own program. "You 'pay' for your instrument by performing or taking lessons, and by the time you graduate, it's yours."

    The girl perked up at the offer. She first thought that everyone had to bring their own instruments -- and she knew she would be screwed if it's really true. But thankfully, that's not the case. "Where can I rent one?" she asked.

    "This way." Misty led the way to a large open room filled with instruments, where some students were checking out instruments or signing up for the Rent to Own program. "Now then--do you just need an instrument for today, or do you plan to Rent to Own?" she asked.

    Misty nodded. "Okay...how big of an instrument do you need?" she asked, making a grand gesture to the hundreds of violins and violas on the wall in the Bowed Strings room of the Rent to Own show building. "We've got almost every size available..."

    "Hmm..."

    The girl stretched her arms with her Eevee watching. "Something that would fit my arms..." she mused.

    (I did specify that Nora would start with a 3/4-sized violin, but Nora herself isn't sure at the moment.)

    Misty measured Nora's arms, then studied the tape measure. "Based on this, you probably need a 3/4 size for right now, with the option to upgrade to full size free of charge when the time comes. Is that okay?"
