1x1 Pokemon: The Magic of the Stars (WavePearlxSAF)

Shiino-Altair residence, Rustboro City, Hoenn

Kenji, the younger child in the Shiino-Altair family, and his Shinx, Ginchiyo, were in the TV room watching one of Brock's Pokemagia performances -- particularly the one with his Pichu, Tarina, that one of Kenji's former upperclassmen had uploaded to MyTube. Ever since Brock came to the last school festival Kenji had ever attended, the Pokemagia hype had been rising significantly and it had attracted a lot of the recent graduates who were interested in showbiz, much more than the regular Pokémon contest.

Speaking of contest though, there's Emma, Kenji's older sister who recently decided to switch careers from Pokémon contest to Pokemagia. Right now she was having a phone call with the talent scout she had met several days ago, after her performance in the Super Rank Pokémon Contest.

"Hello?"
"Ah, yes. I'm in."
"Someone else wanna join too, by the way."
"Kenji Shiino-Altair, just graduated from Rustboro Trainer's School."
"Brock once came to his school, he said."
"So... who should we meet up with? And where?"

(Actually, I think of it more as a previously recorded video from an audience's POV, not a live show. The recording itself would be less refined than the official version of the same show.)

Unfortunately though, this particular video stopped after Brock and his Pichu stepped down from the stage and Serena's live show that happened right after it was recorded in a separate video. Then again, it was an amateur recording in a personal account, not the official ones in either any of the Sensational Six's channels or the main Pokemagia channel.

"Ah, okay. Thank you."

Now that the phone call was ended, Emma came out from her room to the TV room where her brother was.

(What did the talent scout tell Emma about this?

She'll need to tell Kenji about it soon.)

 

(Sure. The good 'ol Pokémon Contest is still there, though.)

 

Shiino-Altair residence, Rustboro City

Long story short, Emma and Kenji had a long chat about everything Pokemagia-related: Emma's phone call with that talent scout from before, the Diamond Melody event day according to the posters back at Kenji's school (which so happened to be two days from now), what to expect from Pokemagia shows, and so on. The two then prepared themselves for the journey ahead -- especially Kenji, since it was his first time venturing outside Rustboro without any authority figures around.

Littleroot Town, two days later

After spending a night at their grandparents' home in Oldale, the Shiino-Altair siblings arrived at Littleroot. This little town was normally quiet and peaceful with Professor Birch's lab being its most prominent place, however...

(Whose daughter is May here: Professor Birch's or Norman's?)

 

Seems like the lab was no longer Littleroot's most prominent place for today. A stage had been set, people flocked from practically everywhere, love hype was in the air, yeah...

Among all these people, that talent scout from before should be here, right?

(I'm not sure how to proceed from here...)

 

(Actually, they're not really twins. Emma is 14 and Kenji is 10. Should've said "siblings" instead.)

Both Kenji and Ginchiyo tilted their heads when a black-haired lady greeted the redhead siblings. The former even wondered who the heck this woman was and how she recognized both him and his sister. Emma, however...

"Ah, right," the older sister smiled at her. "The Shiino-Altair siblings, in the flesh," she went on, much to Kenshin's amusement.

 

The siblings, as well as their Pokémon, turned to each other and nodded. "Sure. That's why we're even here. Right, sis?" Kenji gladly accepted the offer followed by Emma's nod in agreement.

 

The siblings took their respective forms and looked over it. Emma also snuck a peek at Kenji's form as well. Almost everything was filled correctly -- sans Kenji's Pokémon list which was still empty.

"Uh... I didn't tell you about Kenji's partner, did I?" Emma mused. As far as she remembered, the redhead girl hadn't told Jade about Ginchiyo at all. "Should I fill it myself?" Kenji asked.

Ginchiyo, meanwhile, wanted to see the forms but couldn't due to her much shorter stature. But luckily for her, Kenshin picked her up while their humans were busy checking their forms.

[I think we all gonna need mentors...] The Gallade mused, enough to pique Ginchiyo's curiosity. [I mean, you and Kenji are new here, right?] The Shinx gave an [Uh-huh,] at that. [And big sis and I only have contest experience...] Kenshin went on.

 

Oookay, no answer to Kenji's question, so he had to take it as a "yes". The younger brother added Ginchiyo's name and species in the form and gave it back along with Emma's form.

And then Jade talked about mentors without the siblings' prompts. Emma turned around to find Kenshin carrying Ginchiyo in his arms. "Kenshin??? Did you say something about mentors?" Emma asked, to which the Blade Pokémon responded with a nod. [We're all relatively new at this, so yeah...]

And when she turned back, the Sensational Six were already present before the Shiino-Altair siblings. "Wha..." Kenji stuttered as he noticed one of them -- the very same Brock who once came to Rustboro Trainer's School back then. "H- hello," Emma awkwardly greeted. She wondered which one of these people were former coordinators, but couldn't say anything beyond that awkward greeting.

 

Long story short, the redheads accepted the offer, although there was one thing Kenji just had to make sure. "I heard team performers are welcome to compete too, right?" he wondered. "If we're to enroll as a team, does it mean we'll get one mentor for the whole team or per individual?" Emma asked as soon as she caught her brother's intention.
