Group RP Pokemon: The Song of the Rainbow Aura (IC thread)

Our adventure begins now!

You arrive in the city of Meralda (Viridian City counterpart) searching for the party of adventurers that asked you to come. All of Ariune is on edge after a young duke of the house of Veron started showing a near obsessive interest in finding and reassembling the Creator's Blade. Rumors have been flying on the streets and through the taverns that the duke may even have the ambition to release Necrozma.

The message you received indicates that the adventurers are waiting inside the Emerald Flower, the local tavern.

From your current location in the city square, you can:

--Go north into the market district (the inn and the temple are also here)
--Go east towards the entertainment district (the tavern, the arena, and the Tower of Life are here)
--Go south towards Mayul (the Pallet Town counterpart)
--Go west towards the civic district (government offices, the adventurer's guild, and a post office is here)

The east district was the entertainment district. Contests and tournaments regularly took place in the arena, and there were a number of theaters if one wished to see the latest hit plays and musicals. Overlooking it all was the majestic Tower of Life--the final challenge for Pokémon tamers that dreamed of competing in the Grand Tournament in the Aiiro City. Gary, the Keeper of the Crest of Life, was a tough but fair fighter.

Nestled within the buildings in the district was a stone building with a sign depicting a green flower. The Emerald Flower was a common spot to see a wandering minstrel, or even bands of minstrels if you were lucky.

From the outside, the Emerald Flower looked cozy, intimate and cheerful. Stone bricks and thick, stone beams make up most of the building's outer structure. It's hard to see through the curtained windows, but the inviting music from within can be felt outside.

As you enter the tavern through the well loved wooden door, you're welcomed by the smile of a waitress and a feeling of comfort. The elven bartender is quite busy, but still manages to welcome you with a wink.

It's as enchanting inside as it is on the outside. Marble pillars support the upper floor and the torches attached to them. The walls are packed with rows of banners from all sorts of tribes, families, and nations. The most prominent ones on display is the banners for the different elven clans, with the banner of the Artisan's clan in the center.

The tavern itself is packed. Common folk seem to be the primary clientele here, which is often a good sign. Several long tables are occupied by what looks like couples, travelers and anybody else who enjoys great company. The other, smaller tables are also occupied by people who clearly enjoy each other's company, though they seem to be strangers who have met here. Even most of the stools at the bar are occupied, though nobody seems to mind more company.

You did hear rumors about this tavern--supposedly it's famous for something, but you can't remember what for. Though judging by the music and how many people are dancing, it must be the beautifully clad minstrel in purple, red, and gold who just started playing. You manage to find a seat and prepare for what will undoubtedbly be a great afternoon.

"Thank you..." the minstrel acknowledged his applause for the set he had finished--acknowledging the fey and the Taka that had just arrived as he caught a gold coin someone had flipped him as a tip.

He thought for a moment, then told the crowd "Once upon a time something happened. If it hadn't happened, it wouldn't be told." This was a minstrel's standard beginning if they had a folktale, or any tale of adventure, to tell.

(I'm waiting on everyone to settle in before we start the quest...the point of the tale is to worldbuild and hint at some lore-specific plot points you may run into on this adventure)

After changing instruments to a lovely silver harp, the minstrel began his tale. "In a place far from this land, there was a land where dragon Pokémon roamed free. This land had a king whose banners had long been black, and whose eyes never knew joy. Every Golden Day he had to send ninety-nine people to the dragons. They were the terror of the land, and showed no mercy to the ninety-nine beings sent to them. Human, elf, dwarf, Taka--all were devoured until there was nothing left."

Gasps and worried whispers filled the room at this.

"Now, the king had three sons, each of them more handsome and clever than the other." the minstrel explained. "The king was very fond of his sons, and guarded them like his greatest secrets. The names of the elder two are not important, but the youngest was named Tristan. There were no other young men left in the land, for the dragons fed on male flesh alone. Once the young men were gone, they had moved on to the older men."

"One day, the elder princes went to their father and asked him to battle the dragons. But the father would not even listen to his sons' request. As for Tristan, he did not even think to ask his father about such a daunting task." the minstrel continued. "The elder sons persisted in their pleas, until they were allowed to go and fight the dragons."

"Now, there were many dragons in the land, but among them three Hydreigons stood tall." the minstrel explains. "One had the normal three heads, another six, and the third nine. These three were so feared, the other dragons dared not challenge them."

Three others were at the minstrel's table. A black haired mage listened intently to the tale, periodically petting his Pikachu familiar. An orange haired lady knight just listened in awe to her friend's skill, periodically looking out for any rogues or troublemakers. A blonde haired girl in the elegant robes of a spirit dancer listened intently alongside her Braxien companion. They all knew the tale well, and which roles they played when their minstrel friend performed.
