The following new additions have been made to make Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon a different experience from Pokémon Sun and Moon. Necrozma has two new forms - Dusk Mane Necrozma and Dawn Wings Necrozma. Dusk Mane Necrozma is exclusive to Pokémon Ultra Sun, is a Psychic/Steel type, has a currently unknown ability, and has access to the attack Sunsteel Strike. Dawn Wings Necrozma is exclusive to Pokémon Ultra Moon, is a Psychic/Ghost type, has a currently unknown ability, and has access to the attack Moongeist Beam. Ash-Hat Pikachu has an exclusive form, wearing the hat that Ash Ketchum wears in "Pokémon the Movie 20: I Choose You!". Rockruff has received a new evolution, Lycanroc Dusk Form. Lycanroc Dusk Form evolves exclusively from Rockruff with the Own Tempo ability (event only), and it evolves between 5 PM and 6 PM when it reaches Lv. 25. Lycanroc Dusk Form is a Rock type, has the ability Tough Claws, and has access to the attacks Accelerock and Counter. The Alola Region has undergone some design changes, most notably a giant swirling vortex above Poni Island. Various new areas and buildings have been added across the region too. The Z-Ring used in Pokémon Sun and Moon has now become the Z-Power Ring, allowing for the use of various new Z-Moves. One of these is Clangorous Soulblaze, which is a powered-up version of Clanging Scales exclusive to Kommo-o. Another one is Splintered Stormshards, which is a powered-up version of Stone Edge exclusive to all 3 forms of Lycanroc. Players can now take photos with their Pokémon in the Alola Photo Club, adding stickers and effects like a digital photo booth. Various new clothing options will be available for players to purchase. There is a new Ride Pokémon - Mantine. Using Mantine, players can surf on the waves between the islands of Alola, performing tricks and gaining points. The Alola Pokédex has been expanded on, adding various new Pokémon from older generations into the game. Some of the trials in the Alola Island Challenge have been altered. Lush Jungle's trial now has a bunch of Sudowoodo holding items in it, Wela Volcano's trial has Alolan Marowak as the Totem Pokémon, and the Fairy Trial Captain, Mina, now has her own Trial. The story has been greatly altered from Pokémon Sun and Moon, involving a heavy focus on Necrozma, Ultra Beasts, Ultra Space, and the absence of light. According to the game's tagline, "This Isn't The Alola You Know". A new organisation has been revealed - the Ultra Recon Squad. It has 4 main members; Dulse, Zossie, Soliera, and Phyco, with Dulse and Zossie being exclusive to Pokémon Ultra Sun, and Soliera and Phyco being exclusive to Pokémon Ultra Moon. Members of the Ultra Recon Squad battle using Ultra Beasts. Players can now ride on Solgaleo or Lunala in order to traverse through Ultra Wormholes to reach different dimensions, each belonging to an Ultra Beast, as well as other locations. One of these locations is Ultra Megalopolis, a world where the light has been stolen by Necrozma. This location acts as a base of operations for the Ultra Recon Squad. Various new Ultra Beasts have been revealed. The first of these is UB Burst, a Fire/Ghost type Pokémon with the ability Beast Boost, and is exclusive to Pokémon Ultra Sun. It has a brand-new move called Mind Blown, which is a Fire-type move that causes massive damage at the cost of 50% of the user's HP. The second of these is UB Assembly, a Rock/Steel type Pokémon with the ability Beast Boost, and is exclusive to Pokémon Ultra Moon. The third of these is UB Adhesive, a Poison type Pokémon with the ability Beast Boost. Necrozma has been given a new exclusive move, Photon Geyser. It's a Psychic-type move that compares the user's Attack and Special Attack stats, and then chooses the higher stat when doing damage. Two new Z-Moves have been revealed - Searing Sunraze Smash, a powered-up form of Sunsteel Strike that can be used by Solgaleo and Dusk Mane Necrozma, and Menacing Moonraze Maelstrom, a powered-up form of Moongeist Beam that can be used by Lunala and Dawn Wings Necrozma. Both of these moves have the same effect as their base moves; ignoring the effects of a Pokémon's ability. The Rotom Dex is receiving an upgrade, known as the Roto Loto. Using this, players will be able to get special Roto Powers, that act almost identical to O-Powers, Pass Powers, and Entree Powers from previous games. You can also interact with Rotom and bond with it, which will allow you to do such things as use Z-moves twice in battle. Original villain Giovanni is returning to the spotlight as the leader of a new organisation, Team Rainbow Rocket. Their goal is currently unknown, but they are made up of all the previous villains in the main series Pokémon games. A new battle facility will be available for players to challenge - the Battle Agency. Players will use teams of Rental Pokémon in order to climb the ranks and fight powerful Trainers. You can also win rare items, like Gold Bottle Caps. The Alola Region has a new fetch quest in the form of Totem Stickers. These little stickers are plastered all over Alola, and collecting them allows the player to obtain Totem-Size Pokémon. It's currently unknown if Totem-Size Pokémon are any different to their regular counterparts, apart from in size. Different Pokémon will appear in Alola when using the Island Scan feature. Exampels of this given were Charmander, Grovyle, and Greninja. Every Legendary Pokémon can be obtained within Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon through the use of Ultra Wormholes. Travelling between wormholes leads to different dimensions where different Legendary Pokémon appear. Some Legendary Pokémon are exclusive to one game, while others need the player to own Pokémon in their group in order to find them.
