Pokemon Y Nuzlocke Challenge

Since I got Y for Christmas, I'm doing a Nuzlocke on it as well. I'm going to be using these rules-

- Only catch the first Pokémon you encounter in each route.
- Nickname all Pokémon
- Defeated Pokémon are considered dead and must be perma-boxed
- No duplicate Pokémon
- Can catch Legendaries, cannot use them
- Trade evolutions are allowed
- If you find a shiny Pokémon, you MUST use it no matter what it is, until it dies
- Do NOT use the EXP Share, leave it off at all times

I named my trainer Deltheor, and I decided to start with Froakie, since I started with Fennekin in my X version. I named him Ushiwaka, and he's Mild natured with a Mischievous characteristic.



I'm going to be taking a little bit of a break to help out my parents with some things, so I'll continue it later (hopefully after the eShop fixes itself and lets me update the game). I'm definitely looking forward to it, though, I haven't done a Nuzlocke in quite some time.

I'd do this but I'm currently playing a Wedlocke race on X and I don't want to restart to let my opponent down. GL you guys though!

 

Ok I'm joining in! I'll be using these rules:
-Only catch the first Pokémon you encounter in each route.
-If the Pokémon is defeated, you must perma-box it until you either lose or beat the elite 4. If either of those happen I can trade the Pokémon to my Y version.
-Nickname all Pokémon.

I decided to start with Fennekin as I have started with both Froakie and Chespin before.

Update! I'm currently in Santalune Forest, training up my team. I caught a Pidgey on Route 2, and a Caterpie in Santalune Forest. I named them Lechku and Vance, respectively. My team currently looks like this-

Well, I had my first couple deaths in my Nuzlocke. While trying to catch a Pokémon on Route 3, which was a Dunsparce, it used Rollout and OHKO'd my Froakie and Butterfree. I did manage to catch it, though, but it's rather sad that it managed to take out 2 of my best Pokémon. I named it Tueur, which means Killer in French. I thought it was fitting.

I did catch another Pokémon on the route east of Santalune City, and it turned out to be an Azurill named Marée. I've never used an Azurill before, so it should be interesting. Dunsparce is actually really fun to use, and mine is a decent nature with Serene Grace, which is pretty good.

After training my team for a bit, I took on the Santalune City Gym Leader, Viola. My Dunsparce one-shotted both of her Pokémon with Rollout, which was awesome! First badge down, seven to go.

I also caught a Ralts which I named Reiné on the next route, and I'm definitely planning on training her. Here is my team at the moment-

After training my team up a bit, I made it to Lumiose City and finally met Professor Sycamore. After battling him, I chose my second starter- Charmander, which I named Vlieger. Hopefully this guy doesn't meet an untimely end like my poor Froakie.

I spent quite some time in Lumiose, mostly at Restaurant Le Nah getting some money and levels for my Pokémon. A lot of my team evolved during that- Marée evolved twice and is now an Azumarill, Vlieger is a Charmeleon, Lechku is a Pidgeotto, and Reiné is a Kirlia. I'm pretty happy with how my team is turning out.

I also caught an Abra named Zauberin to the west of Lumiose, but I'm boxing him for now since I already have a good Psychic-type on my team. For now, on to to the next town!

Just a quick update, I caught a Venipede on the route before Parfum Palace, which I'm really happy about. I actually forgot you could catch Venipede there, so I was kind of angry when something jumped out of the bushes at me, but it turned out to be a pleasant surprise, haha. I named her Ophion, and I'm currently training her up before I wander around the palace for a bit.

A lot has happened since my last update. In short, I made it to Cyllage City, beat the second Gym Leader, met and battled Team Flare, went through Reflection Cave to Shalour City, beat the third Gym Leader, and learned how to use Mega Evolution.

To get the sad stuff out of the way, my Azumaril, Marée, died to a trainer on Route 12. I was really sad about that, she was turning out to be a great Pokémon. I also caught a Chatot named Pinion who also died trying to catch another Pokémon, and Korrina's Lucario died to a crit in the battle with her other Lucario.

The new Pokémon I caught are as follows- a Zubat named Flutterbat, a Drifloon named Vaermina, a Sandile named Thanatos, a Rhyhorn named Kastell, a Golett named Juggernaut, a Staravia named Nechku, a Sableye named Ixion, a Chatot named Pinion (now deceased), and one other that I'll get to in a minute.

I swapped out my Pidgeotto (Lechku) for Sableye, since I didn't need two Flying-types on my team, but I'll probably be using him in the future. My Charmeleon, Kirlia, Pidgeotto, and Venipede are now all fully-evolved, which is awesome!

The most current Pokémon that I caught was one I definitely wasn't planning on. After Marée died, I wanted another water-type, or one that could at least learn Surf. So I got the Good Rod from Coumarine City and went back to Cyllage City, since I haven't caught a Pokémon there yet. I was planning on catching a Skrelp, since they're the most common, but the first catch I got was-



-a shiny Horsea! I was so shocked when I reeled this guy in, I've never found a shiny Horsea in all my years of playing Pokémon, and I really love shiny Kingdra. I'm currently training this guy up before I challenge the next Gym Leader.

A lot of things have happened since my last update. I got 4 new badges, so my total is up to 7, I caught a few new Pokémon (Trapinch "Silbena", Goomy "Ophelia", Klefki "Marino", Pawniard "Heracle", Pumpkaboo "Persephone", Bergmite "Hyozan", and Snover "Everest"), and now Team Flare is trying to destroy the world. Fantastic.

Tueur continues to be useful in every single Gym battle, it's rather ridiculous. If someone told me before starting this run that I'd be relying on a Dunsparce for most of the challenge, I would have thought they were crazy. He's such a good Pokémon, though, I've been very careful in raising him so that he doesn't die. He did kill two of my Pokémon starting out when I was trying to catch him, so it's only fair I try to spare his life in exhange, haha.

Oh, and I also caught a shiny Luvdisc while hunting for Heart Scales, which I unfortunately caught and had to use for a bit before she got killed. RIP Aphrodite, you will (not) be missed.

For now, I'm taking on Team Flare's secret base in Lumiose City, so hopefully that goes well. I did a bit of training before the 7th Gym, so hopefully that pays off in the end. Also, here are a few more pictures of my trainer and my updated team-

Well, I lost a Wonderlocke to an Acupressure Medicham, so I restarted to join in the fun! ^.^

Stuff happens, I choose Chespin, named it Pinny and beat up Shauna.

Sadly I haven't done anything on my nuzlocke as I've been distracted with other things. However, I do plan to do a Pokémon X nuzlocke as soon as I get the chance!
