So a friend of mine who's a much better gamer than I am sent me a pikachu with pokerus a while ago. I was sort of too embarrassed to get advice from him though since he takes the game way more seriously than I do haha.
So, now that I have a Pokémon with pokerus, what do I do spread it, keep it, and utilize it efficiently?
Also, if I can spread it, would anyone want some?
I used to know somewhat about pokerus way back in the days of the older older games, but I've forgotten everything and also don't know if anything has changed.

You can spread it just by having it in your party when you battle. There's a chance that it will spread to the other Pokémon in your party. The condition goes away on its own after something like 2 or 3 days, but will last as long as the Pokémon is boxed, it can't go away in a box. So there's that to consider when infecting others, there is a limited time window if it's being kept out in your party.

All it does is double the EV yield for that Pokémon when you defeat other Pokémon in battle. Can come in handy if you are EV training with horde encounters. Besides that it doesn't do anything.

Okay Okay so I've been keeping the Pokémon boxed. If I take it out to spread it, then do I have 2-3 days from when I remove it from the box to get it to spread? And then if I box it again and pull it out again do I have 2-3 more days?
Thanks so much for the info :)

Well I looked into it just now because I didn't know myself and found out two things: I may be wrong about the timing, since a lot people are saying it's only exactly 24 hours that it lasts, and putting them in the box just freezes that count, it doesn't reset it. So I guess you'd just have to keep infecting more to keep the virus around forever, since the counter starts the moment it becomes infected. So you could infect something and instantly box it to have a full count allowing you to infect more. Once a Pokémon ahs been infected and the infection times out, they can never get the Pokerus again.

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but after the contagious period ends, the purple Pokerus status box will be replaced by a purple face looking thing next to the blue hexagon on the summary screen. This only means that the Pokémon is no longer contagious. It will still benefit from the effects of the Pokerus virus.

From what I heard, the Pokerus virus can last indefinitely so long as it is boxed during midnight. The Pokerus counter works by days, and by boxing a Pokémon before midnight, I've been able to keep Pokerus going for nearly a week before I got bored with it and just let it pass away.

The best advice I can give, is to spread it to a few Pokémon you don't use. That way, they can be in the box with the Pokerus when you get ready to spread it, again.

Another piece of advice, while very late, is that after Pokerus fades away, the Pokémon still gains double EVs, so if you want to EV train a Pokémon at any point, infect it, and don't worry about training it on time.
