So... with Greninja being suspected, one of stall's greatest enemies may be disappearing. However, the new M-Evolutions have absurd offensive, wallbreaking capabilities. That raises the question: Is stall viable in ORAS?

Well, I think it is. Although one of stall's biggest assets, Aegislash, is gone, and Steel lost 2 important resistances, stall may be as alive as ever due to the Greninja ban.

However: does anyone like to play stall? (Yes) and does anyone like to play AGAINST stall? (no) Is late-game PP-stalling OK, or is it just a jerk move?

I'll end with this replay, and you guys can discuss stall. What works on it, how to play it, and how to beat it. :3

I hate you for this, just so you know.

This is a good reason for me to have an opinion on the Greninja banning, haha. Most people in my situation would have forfeited, making the game much shorter, but I'm too stubborn. :P

Hahaha, that team reminds me of a team for a fire gym I made on another site: Slowbro, Tangrowth, Tornadus-T, Infernape, Charizard X, and Darmanitan. Regen Core team is the nickname of it, and only one to have actually beaten it was Rafael, stupid Cresslia >.> I might remake my regen core to fit for ORAS. Stall is still viable if you know how to use it well.

Stall is a prime example of why Greninja should not be banned. Without Greninja, the usage of stall teams is going to shoot through the roof, making the game extremely un-fun to play. I hate using stall and I hate playing against it. Sitting there for 200+ turns just to have a chance of winning a single game is not fun, especially when 90% of stall players are also classless gits that like to stall the timer. The playstyle takes far less skill to use effectively than others.

    Stall teams are cancer.

As a stall player, I'm very glad Greninja got banned lol.

I do enjoy doing things like Toxic-stalling, but PP stalling is different. I PP stall as well sometimes (for example, when I want to get rid of my enemy's Softboiled, Wish, etc.), but when it comes to that point that neither of you are able to do anything to your opponent other than finish your PP until you Struggle? Nahh I hate PP stall when it's like that. Neither player would enjoy that as it makes the game too boring (but I don't forfeit anyway 'cuz I usually win those PP stall wars xD).

Greninja is being suspect-checked? Yess I mean no, how awful.

Ermmmm well. Stall? I personally think that stall is thriving in the latest gen. Well, time-wasting stalls anyway. Like Slowbroongus I don't like playing with stall teams nor do I enjoy facing them in battle. I don't want to be stuck in a 6 on 6 battle for more than half an hour whilst my opponent gives me the runaround. Yes, most megas could probably break through walls, but I'd rather not use them just for that purpose.

Stall is actually hazards+walls, and it had a major decline at the start of XY OU thanks to Steel nerf and Defog buff. It isn't time-wasting, it's slowly whittling at the opponent with hazards while controlling the pace of the battle with phazing and switches.

That being said, stall has a crappy time vs. Trick-scarf Gothitelle. Though it has shown a decrease in usage, do you think we may see a resurgence of Gothitelle in OU?

I hope not. I hate that strategy after running into it too many times with a Shuckle lead. >.<

I personally don't like stall. I run what could be considered "stall" on a prankster whimsicott (sub, leech seed, cotton guard, giga drain), but I also try to actually have a timely battle instead of sitting and watching my opponent slowly loose or myself slowly suffer. Part of the fun in battling to me is the strategy, and stall is a strategy, but as a good friend of mine once said: "I mean sure you can do that but you don't have to be a dick about it."

Competitive Discussion= Spammernoob and Gengar's Grin Discussion? Wow...It is almost funny XD...Well it is >.<

Mmmm...Lets see...Stall Game...Stall Game... I have no problems with it, but I have problems with it.

Using Wall-Breakers and Stall-Breakers is taking some extra risks. And giving the fact that they are the only reasonable way to counter stall it is ok. But I don't like spending extra slots preventing slot.

The most commonly used , as many of us know, are the Wall-Breakers , while the Stall-Breakers like Taunters, Magic Bouncers, Magic Coaters, etc are lesser used.

Using a M-Sableye with is very common to avoid the Stall since ORAS, one of the reasons that made it popular (plus the Calm Mind XD and other stuff).Obviously some persons found it very annoying, because they are wasting a Mega Slot to prevent Stall, but of course it depends on the person's point of view. Taunters? Like Prankster M-Bannete, Whismicott and thers are always the wayt to prevent another prankster and Status and etc etc...but there is again the Mega Slot problem and in Whismicott case the really low bulk. These, and many others reasons, make the Stall-Breakers tools very difficult to use (thundurus says "I am so good" but some rocks and prediction kill this poor guy :( )

Wall-Breakers? Well, Ice Beam to a Landorus is always funny XD and pretty common :P, and one of the most easy things to see on the low ladder. Not too much to say about them, you already know this concept :P.

Now that I explained this. I will answer you questions with more precision:

However: does anyone like to play stall?

I like playing all the formats and styles. I must know all of them if I want to teach them. And I am always searching for new strategies. So I can say yes :)

and does anyone like to play AGAINST stall? (no)

After all the explanations. I will say...YES if I have some viable stall-breaker or wall-breakers. And NO if it will take >100 turns, because I think that it ruins not only my game experience, it also ruins the other's experience, because even if you win with stall, it is not a complete win if you toke too much turns and spent too much time that you could use with another thing.

Is late-game PP-stalling OK, or is it just a jerk move?

Well...I think that YES. I mean. If you have a Gliscor and your opponent a Gliscor...You will want to see who wins XD. Is really funny. But ...again...it all depends on the battle. There are different ways to stall, long and short, so I repeat..I don't like seeing 2 players spending 30-50 minutes to see who will win that kind of battle.

Funny thing is, Spikes destroys stall. However, one of the most popular forms of stall in ORAS is M-Sableye stall. Do you really want to fish for crits with your own M-Sableye?

M-Sableye is stall and sometimes anti-stall and sometimes a wild cat on the night with that painful Dark Pulse after Calm Mind xD

Moves that always critical hit is a good counter, or do this:

Kingdra @ Scope Lens, Sniper as ability.
Use Focus Energy once, then sweep everything with Draco Pump, Hydro Pump, or Ice Beam. The other great thing about crits is of course the fact that they ignore all stat drops on the user's end.

pp stall is a meh tactic. Gliscor pp stall isn't as good anymore with a bunch of Pokémon that force it out. The best Pokémon i can think of is Magic Guard CM Clefable, who doesn't care about toxic. I know i'm mentioning specific counterstrategies to pp stall, but it just isn't that good anymore. Other forms of stall through hazards and toxic (not the same as PP) is very viable. Oh, and I would consider Gliscor a very good stallpiece, just not the subtoxic kind.
