Have you ever used a Pokémon and were just frustrated about its speed? Is it too slow to deal that finishing hit? Well with priority moves, speed is no worry. Priority moves are all based on several different priority levels, ranging from 8 to -7. 0 is where most attacks reside, but other unique moves have different priorities based on the move itself. For example, Sucker Punch has a priority of +1 when your opponent selects an attacking move. This means that it would go before any normal move unless the opponent uses a higher priority move (like Extremespeed which has +2) or it also uses a +1 priority move and has a higher speed stat. On the other hand, there are lower priority moves such as Focus Punch with a priority of -3. Lets say you're up against a Pokémon that knows Avalanche, Revenge, Circle Throw, or Dragon Tail. Focus Punch has a higher priority than those moves and thus would hit them without the worry of losing focus regardless of how fast they are! Some abilities such as Gale Wings and Prankster also change the Priority of certain moves, making battles even more so interesting. There is also the Custap Berry that can change an attack's priority to +8 when their HP is low! Combine it with Destiny Bond and you might just have yourself a free KO. Do you like to use priority moves in competitive battling? What Pokémon do you primarily use priority moves with? What do you think is the most effective priority move?

Since most moves with high priority are kinda weak, I usually pair them up with a Technician Pokémon, like Bullet Punch M-Scizor.
But the more powerful ones, like Sucker Punch and ExtremeSpeed, I tend to run on all-out attackers, in this case M-Mawile and M-Lucario.
Of course, you're not a competitive battler if you've never used a Prankster Sableye or a Gale Wings Talonflame. Those abilities, combined with the right moves, make for some sweet combos!
But my personal favourite would have to be Prankster Whimsicott, with 3 status moves and Giga Drain. Since Whimsicott's pretty fast to begin with, it doesn't really need Prankster, but it works so well on it. Priority Leech Seeds, Substitutes and Stun Spores, combined with a pretty fast Giga Drain, and you're little fluffball will be alive for days!

I have always loved using prankster Pokémon, due to the priority given to moves that usually do not get it. I loved my taunt/will-o-wisp prankster Sableye as an awesome anti-lead in XY OU, prankster t-wave/spikes on Klefki, or just the sheer hilarity of all of prankster Whimsicott. If I had to say favorite I would say Sableye, but best is pretty hard. Gale Wings Talonflame is the most effective with priority Brave Bird and Roost, E-Speed users are cool too especially D-nite. I have to say that I think that Talonflame is the best with swords dance or bulk up plus priority Brave Bird and Roost.

I feel lie priority moves are essential for any team. Without them you have no way of stopping sweeps and can easily get wrecked by a weakness policy + sturdy strategy or something along those lines. I always like to have 2 or priority moves on my team to make sure I can deal with stuff like that. My favorite Pokémon, Scizor, is an excellent priority mon with its STAB + Technician Bullet Punch. Talonflame is also a personal favorite of mine with its Gale Wings Brave Bird.

I use Whimsicott constantly whenever I need lots of priority. It's my personal favorite Pokémon to use. I love having a priority Memento/Taunt/ Leech Seed/ Light Screen. There are other ways to use it too. I consider it a great supporter Pokémon for any tier.

When it comes to regular priority moves I like fake out. It's a good way to scout your opponent.

Liked the post until I saw gale wings

Priority is a norm on every team, in LC every team has Mienfoo which has the old fake out, OU has azumarill around every corner and that means aqua jet. Also crawdaunt. Priority is the norm and as they're so weak (bar sucker punch which can be avoided easily) hey're just... there. They're significant but only on the adaptability abusers and there's only 2 of them off the top of my head. Oh yeah, priority is Scizor's main niche too. But what makes scizor quite hard to beat is the fact that he can set up when someone switches in to take the hit. And 7 times out of ten, scizor outspeeds walls.

Anyways, I digress, at the end of the day, Priority is easily walled by switches and it isn't too important in my opinion.
