Private lessons really help you to speed up and get ahead of the pack in music. They allow you to get one on one time and you get to work at a faster pace than with the whole group.

Do you take private lessons? What instruments do you lessons for?

I take private lessons for saxophone and I took them for piano up until this year. I really enjoy having lessons because it helps speed up my learning by a lot and it allows me to learn jazz techniques from a professional.

I took private music lessons from grade 1 all the way through the beginning of college. It did help that my private instructor was also my high school band director, so that was pretty cool! I took lessons for Piano, French Horn, and Guitar, and I taught myself Mellophone and Trumpet among some others. It was really fun, and I practice on my own now for fun when I get the time.

I take private lessons, but not for an instrument. I take vocal lessons every other Thursday. Most people disregard vocal lessons, but there is a lot to learn about controlling your voice and tonal quality.

I take private lessons for piano ever since I was little. I've been practicing more often lately, and I'm learning to play some of my favorite songs on piano. Have to search for the sheet music first though.

I've never gotten private lessons, rather I had lessons with a bunch of people.
I don't think I will get private lessons in the future, although I might think about it. The price is just too high for such things.

I never had and probably never will, but I would like to. If some one offered them to me for free I'd do it for sure, as I'd love to be better at singing. I think it's a neat hobby though I'd never be good at playing an instrument.

I've taken group and private lessons for the piano and drums as well as private lessons for the violin and guitar before. I don't take them anymore though because of a tight schedule and the fact that I'm currently overseas. I liked having lessons as they helped develop my musical skills both practically and aurally, which I believe are useful skills to have. Although I don't take lessons anymore, I still play the piano and guitar for leisure if I have the time.

I'll speak of the past, since this is something that happened to me.

When I was younger (much more so than I am now), I took one-on-one piano lessons to learn the instrument more proficiently; I had taken a break from the instrument for a few years and was pressured to get back into it. I found the setting tremendously effective, both because of the method used (Suzuki) and the setting itself; I do much better with one-on-one settings than with group ones, and I believe they are much more effective, since the teacher can focus all of his or her time simply on one student, rather than having to divide it.

Those days are long gone now, but I will say for anyone wishing to learn a musical instrument, do not do so with a group lesson; it will not serve you nearly as well.

I take private singing classes, even though I only have 45 min a week I noticed I've improved a lot since I started. Find it a great hobby for me.
I'd really love to know how to play other instruments so I could know more about this and all.
